engine bay air flow

Ok. I am to now plumbing the IC and airbox in my RA28-1GGTE.
I wish to have a big Lancer EVO style air vent in the middle of the bonnet, to suck out the hot air. Can anyone see the problems with doing this? Is there a certain ammount of air-cooling the engine needs to operate correctly?
I also am going to run a small scoop in the front drivers side corner of the bonnet, in a ram air style set up, with the air box below it. IS this OK?
Thanks, Tim.

You can never have too much cooling! As for the scoop, you just need to watch that it does'nt direct rain into your airfilter!

And make sure those scoops are legal. Since I don't know your location, I can't point you toward the appropriate material online to check out.

from rta.nsw.com.au
Bodywork and interior There are general requirements concerning alterations to the bodywork: a) no alteration may cause a hazard to persons due to exposed sharp edges or projections; and b) no alteration may cause a reduction in the level of safety or overall strength of the vehicle.
Thas't all I could find. Should be OK.

A) is the iffy one.
I can't remember the rule of thumb but I think you must be able to roll a Coke can along your car and not get it caught...
This is to stop you chopping someone in two if/when you hit them.
BTW, this is in NSW.

No no no, you can't start chopping away at a good 23/28 series bonnet, good ones are as rare as rockong horse shit!
Although if you do, you aren't allowed to cut/remove any of the underbonnet bracing, leave all that as it is & you can pretty much go wild. One guy I know cut the forward edge of the power buldge, which sorta turned the buldge into a big bonnet scoop. It looked pretty good, but he ended up regretting cutting such a good bonnet.
EDIT: the other thing is, the cooling in a 23/28 engine bay is pretty good, with the standard bonnet vents. And it would be easier to cover up or reverse a cold air feed that's comes through the guard, or through the radiator support. Also I heard that the splash guard, the big plate that bolts from the very front chassis rail to the crossmember, with the vents cut in it, that helps extract hot air from the radiator to underneath the car. So if anyone has a TA23 splash guard they're not using, I'd be very interested.

Wow. You guys got it really lenient. Either that or it's because it's not explained in detail like ours is.
Here's ours for comparison:
http://www.transport.qld.gov.au/qt/driver.nsf/inde x/vehiclemods
Get the pdf download on the page. It's specifically got a section on bonnet scoops in it.

i got a book a while back from the QLD transport orifice and it said the reason big scoops werent allowed is cos it restricts vision. ther eis also a hell of a lot of other rules. a few of them are reasonable too.
