I was wondering how strong are the stock engine internals on a 4AGE 86kW engine...how much kilowatts can they withstand before soemthing breaks? also how much more load is put on them if the stock engine has gone F/I??
Im looking to upgrade the internals of my 4AGE engine but I dont wanna spend too much money on it or go overkill....

depends what do you want to do.
some people turbo (using low boost (6-7psi)) the old blue top motors with good results and reliability.
typically fuel injection does not really put load on an engine, if anything it helps as its far more efficient than carbs and dizzies (in certain applications)
if you want a stronger bottom end perhaps look at the 100kw motor with 42mm journals (vs your 40mm) and oil squirters in the oil galleys (to cool the piston gudgeons) and 7 rib blocks? just a thought? really depends what you wanna do
its easy to go overkill on a 4AGE, start talking formula atlantic and the money starts flowing
i am going to go low boost (8psi max) and the car is going to be driven most likely on weekends (i catch the train to work).
i will upgrade the fuel system (carby to efi) and so far ive got myself some low and high volume fuel pumps and GZE injectors...the fuel lines will be swapped for larger ones. it seems ive got that part covered.
so u think that the stock internals are OK? i rad somewhere in here some guy (garage dori??) is building up 4AGTE engines using stock internals?? hmm maybe i'll have to see how he is going about it
