I just got this icq message as quoted below.
155646305: Hi, TOYO3T Join free member to meet sexy girl , one night stand , sex partner photos search engine, forward it now flower4girl.com Flower4Girl.com
Not unusual I know, to recieve this kind of shit , but I wanna know how they know my toymods login, it appeared while I was on the forums. Is there some automated way they can access our details?
I HATE popups !! but this is the first anon one that has actually used my name . I only use TOYO3t on this forum nowhere else.
Is there an issue here ?

yeah i did, an icq pager message or something.
everyone probably recieved the same message.
just pisses me off, when people send me porn shit using my tag.
if I want it I can find it myself. I dont need messages like that appearing when my G/F is using my computer. (often)

As for the RAM...buy it yourself, I had to!

Ummm, ever thought of turning the noises off? Thats always a good start. As for FTP programs...why not use an FTP program, which will have better features than IRC because thats what its designed to do...

Scripts, you can make scripts to do just about anything you want, eg. On the keysroke of F2 IRC generates a random mp3 then playes it back in the defult audio player...etc, That is one of many things there are... mIRC works just like a command console.. so there are pretty much limitless possabilities... But just because i like it doesnt mean you have to use it...

Hehe, I know. I just have never liked mIRC...possibly because of all the freaks that end up on it. The only purpose I had for it was to go to the warez channels and find ftp sites

Toyo3T. The name would've been taken from your ICQ info.
An easy way to turn off those messages is to disable the web pager and not accept any messages from people not on your list.
It's kinda sucky, but there's way too much of that spam on ICQ to have it any other way.

Heh yeah, by the time you change all those settings in ICQ prob would be quicker and easyer to download IRC and install it.

Have any of you guys ever tried Trillian? Its much smaller to download, uses less resources and is a ICQ, MSN, IRC, AIM and a Yahoo client.

1st- of all I hate POP-UPS and Spam mail = my worst enemy. Pisses me off to the max.
2nd- Dylusion buy more RAM with the money you spend on your car.
3rd- Rolla Boy whats the go with this Progam "My mate has a tracer program and thats how he stops e-mail msg's" where can I get it and whats it called.
4th- Dylusion that script "On the keysroke of F2 IRC generates a random mp3 then playes it back in the defult audio player." is the most annoying thing in the world as everyone in the channels that ur in gets the name of the song you are playing and if u don't like it and change it say 5 times for example cause u can't make up ur mind on what song its gets bloody annoying.
5th- I would have to say I get a lot of spam on IRC of people advertising their channels.
Well thats my 2cent probably $2.

trillian is very fancy. Has lots of good features for the size too. I'd certainly recommend it to frequent chatters. As for an FTP util, ever thought of using command line FTP? Comes free with windows and does everything the others do with just a bit more typing

The Windoze ftp client does not do everything you need! No recursive upload/download, no history, no tab completion, and it's a pain in the arse if you want to get/put a few files out of a whole bunch.
If you want a great CLI FTP client, then ncftp is now available for Windoze. It kicks arse! http://www.ncftp.com/
For Windoze users who want to use a mouse, I recommend SmartFTP. http://www.smartftp.com/

well I said you would have to do more typing. it's certainly not the best but it's free and no hassle. I wasn't starting a flame war. How about saying "for those who want a more user friendly fearture packed FTP progrma use...". Much friendlier way of putting it and then you wouldn't seem to be having a go at anyone (if it was intentional or not that's how I feel).

Dude, if I insulted you, then I'm sorry. It wasn't intentional.
BTW, both ncftp and smartftp are free.

no worries. Hey do either of them have ads or anything cause i wouldn't mind giving them a go. I have used so called 'free' ones before and there has always been a catch which is why I resorted to the command line ftp. I do some basic web page development for work and some extra functions would be handy for making changes.

ncftp is a command line program, so definately no ads. It's the FTP program that I use. For web development stuff, ncftp comes with a few scripts like ncftpget and ncftpput which are VERY handy if you want to write scripts which automate uploads.... That's what I do for the ToyMods site.
Not sure if there are ads in SmartFTP, it's a Windoze program. I'm a Linux user...

Cool, I might give the ncftp one a go then. I could use a script to update the site instead of going through it manually.

Easy fixes for 200B ICQ - removes all spammage for me
- install ICQ - run the powercrack available for it and follow its instructions ( search fro ICQ powercrack on google or something )
Ignore all WWpagers messages - ignore any messages from users not on your contact list, and ignore all the other crap on there that you dont need ( ie run bare basics )
Also at the same time - install a half decent firewall ( zonealarm is free and easy to set up )
I use ICQ near on 24/7 ( computers generally always on ) and i never get spammed ( been using ICQ for gads - at least 4 years )
Trillians good also - but its fancy - i like simple and effective
