No joke guys + girls - i came across it today -
a commodore V6 in a ta22 - no joke ... RUNNING and running WELL!!!!
a local guy and his son have done the conversion - the car looks bloody nice ( gold , simmons , big dumpy , lowered ) and sounds neat too - so ive pulled him over - and had a bit of a chat.
Said " ahh youve EFI-ed it ( noticing a huge loom pile in the glovebox ) is it a 2tgeu , 3tgte ? "
" no " he says " v6 "
" hmm - not the commodore v6? "
" yup - my son and i have just got it in !"
* insert stuarts What the!?! look of confusion *
It had to happen sooner or later - Credits to the guys who made the car - its a new conversion i havent heard about - or seen until today.
Ive directed the person who owns the car to these forums - shes a toyota enthusiast and wants to get involved with club events - so for her sake - Please - no bogan, looser or plain dickhead comments?
We dont need another toyota lover shrugged off into the backlots because people have differing oppinions and start calling each other names like other sorry episodes that have tainted these forums of late
It might not be the " choice of the day " conversion - but the job done is neat tidy and runs extremely well.

just to double up my post - no "Slagging" the choice of motor peoples.
Its not needed , or necessary to alienate another enthusiast- and is just plain immature.
Appreciate the conversion effort , the work , and the result ..

but we all know that if she REALLY loved Toyota's they would've used a nice Toyota motor. 
Although. good on em...... some people they just aren't aware of the conversion options available in import engines - and so use what they can.
At least they have a good celica!

yeah the guy i bought my celica off had a mate with a vn powered ra23, and apparently it hammered. not what i'd do, but at least if it broke there would be plenty spares.

u can buy all the parts to bolt the straight in, seen the kits in parts pedalar, they also have them coronas etc..
kits include belhousing engine mounts crossmembers etc..
what box were they using?

I think that it makes a great logical conversion.
And after engineering I would be bolting the turbos in place, and then it would go bloooody well.
Toyden Celicadore mate!
Or maybe Holyota Commica.
I should really get out less.

Exactly - its mot my choice of donk but the effort theve put into it and the finished product is a good one
im pretty sure its not the commodore auto in it - didnt get to have a decent look in the time - so there might be a supra box behind the v6 .. which wouldnt be too shabby performance wise..
they are also runninf a seconday chassis kit thru it to stiffen it up also - so all bases should be covered!
Nods to happering though - 150KW in a car that light - no matter WHAT maker - would be a ripper little car. Its Shorter in block than a 1j - can get factory supercharging , parts are supercheap - and donor parts are everywhere . As an EFI non - forced induction job - its a logical budget option
Least the V6 is in a nicer body - not a commodore:)

Not a bad idea , I'v been thinkin about scrapping the old outdated 3SGTE in me TA22 and upgrading to somthing more HiTech and powerfull like the holden V6 , The 3SGTE is only putting out 260 kw at the wheels so I think I should be able to get at least 300 rwkw's or more with one of these .

once again - appreciate the conversion effort ..
If your giving away that 3sgte - ill happily take it off your hands - and put it in another ta22 ?? 
i for one appreciate ANYONE who can shoehorn a newer donk into a car half the wight as the one it came out in - amd make it look NEAT ..
its the same as someone say - putting a 1uz in a hotrod - or i dunno - a rb26 into a gemini. It takes alot of work to do a " conversion " from one brand to another - maybe not as much as a 3sgte swap - but hey - they did it !
personally if the owner of the car handed me the keys to it and said take it and enjoy - i would !
If they get in contact with me - Ill try and get some pictures of the car - on the outside it looked as neat and as clean as ANY of the ta22's or ra23's that have been worked on ive seen on this forum

Shane this might be something for you to also think about , It would be a much easer conversion and you could put a couple of SS stickers on the boot , put an auto in and cruise around with your arm hanging down the door .
