G'day Guys
I have a 1j in my boat ( check this coming september ZOOM!) , I have be running the 1j with factory ecu, just increased the boost, goes great in that boat, now I wanta put in in a bigger boat( which use to have a carbed big block around 500hp) so I'll need more HP! I have just brought a Haltech E6k managment system , I also have 2 turbos off a Nissan GTR v-spec off a RB26dett they are T-28's, any way you GURU's know the ones, I'm looking at using theses ( mainly due to something called a budget) Making a manifolds and flanges is no hassle, the horespower I'm looking for is 500-550 (and thats at the flywheel, I don't have wheels) so is this possible with all this!!,, I have been thinkin of using a Nissan VG30det that I have in the shed( but with the 2 GTR turbos) to get the power I need, but aaahhhhhhhh I love the 1J!!!!
With regards
Dave

I think you'll have no problems achieving these figures. 1JZ-GTE internals are very strong from the factory. Quoted figures of 500hp at the fly are capable on stock internals apparently.

Hi,
thanks for your reply!,yeah it would be interesting to know what I'd get out of it ( approx) with theses turbos( GTR's) and E6K haltech, so I'd know if it was worth spending time and $$$ doing it!, or put the turbo's and ECU on the VG30DET, you would think 500-550Hp at the Flywheel would be possible out of either really, I also have a surge tank, primer pump, and a Bosch motorsports Fuel pump and a malpassi reg ffor the set up too,
Regards
Dave

the zed engine (VG30) is a little more fragile than the 1jz ... it'll do 500bhp, but expect to have to replace the internals reasonably quickly. (John from UAS can vouch for this)
in terms of getting 500 horsies, I'd say the GTR turbos might be the limiting factor.. they're twin turbo from the factory aren't they? 500 would be just about the limit on them I'd think.

Thanks for the reply!
yes they are standard GTR t-28's, 96 model, I know some guys put t-25's ( off a RB25DET) on a 1J, but I don't know if anyone has put the T-28's on a 1J, they can run 1.3 bar of boost ( apparently) so I thought being bigger then the ct12's they might get me to 500+HP, this is the minimum power I really need to get this bigger boat running properly, I don't know that much about the VG30 ( even though I have one), and I now have experience with a 1J in a smaller boat, so I'm more inclined to run the 1J, and I don't really want to got back to GM V8's after tasting Jap power on the water!

Dave

EVERYONE where I live love speedboats and all have big 351 V8's and I am always telling them that V8's are no good and they should go a 1JZ. How difficult is it to marinise a 1JZ?? I would love to do it just to whoop them.
Thanks

i allready have a jig for the manifold to put those turbos on a 1J i can have them made up reasonably cheap, i have two rb20 turbos on my 1J curently, if you want to get more power though your going to need injectors as wwith these turbos:
250 Kw@ wheels on 12 psi was running the injectors on 98% duty cycle the JZA80 TT injectors fit straight into the rail and should be good for 500hp (obviously there are lots more things that will make your 1J go better too)

1J Ignition

I can’t comment on the turbo’s Dave but I can tell you that you’ll need an aftermarket ignition system as the stock igniter just can’t deliver the spark required for high horsepower application. My suggestion is to fit either something like the Autronic CDI using the 1J coils or Motec ignition expander using Holden LS1 coils (not sure if the Motec can interface with the Haltech though).
