The price is still $11900 and has just been advertised in the Trading Post at this amount.
I thought however I would post with an update - I have just paid 6 months registration on the car and am changing the spark plugs tomorrow. It will receive an oil and filter change on the weekend, as well as new coolant. Nothing else to spend!

Hey,
Hmm i don't think it's a matter of on one here having money, this forum seems to generate a prosperous trade, judging from the limited time i've spent here looking for various cars. Perhaps it's that these cars go alot cheaper imported now, for instance, i am talking to a private importer about an 89' supra right now, and i'll be paying around 7k. However, this is through a friend, and I don't mean to scare you, yours is Australian delivered which adds value in my opinion. But good luck with it anyways, maybe everyone here has gone AE86 crazy .
Good luck, Dan.

How can anyone compare a GA70 with a 1GGTE in it to a 7MGTE MA71? Chalk and cheese as far as im concerned....
Best of luck with the sale. You just have to hang out though. Genuine MA70/71 buyers are as rare as rocking horse extracts (A lesson learned through personal experience).

You would be very hard pressed to land such a car for that kind of money. And certainly not a manual one in this condition with this amount of money spent on suspension, etc.

While I know that book values are a bit misleading at times - I work in the industry - Glass Guide lists my car at being worth nearly double what I am asking for it.
I am considering returning it to standard.

Hey,
In terms of me landing the car for that much, i won't need to spend anything extra except rego. But anyways i didn't want to start an argument as to what these are worth, you've got every right to value it at whatever you see fit, I was just sharing my experience with the same kind of car, i've been researching these 7M's for a year now because they're my fav car (aside from the same thing with a 1jz, in fact i love the 1jz engine now). Anyways here's a quote from RedBook, an authority on the market value of car models that VicRoads mostly refer to, maybe it'll help.
Assuming it's not a targa top -
Red Book Code TOYO89DO
1989 TOYOTA SUPRA
64MA71 Hardtop Turbo 2dr Man 5sp 3.0T
trade in price guide* $5,800 - $7,500
national average price - private sale* $7,100 - $9,700
price when new (RRP) $59,900
- this doesn't take into accnt your mods, which would add a bit of value, but people can get those things cheap. Like i said, i'm not trying to assert your car is worth less than u believe, you just were very frustrated at not selling it quickly. Here's the website if you want to double check.

no offence to you mate but you have a weak point. Redbook in all it's glory doesnt mean anything when it comes to what things ACTUALLY sell for. You look at any car yard or private sale of this model car and you will not find one for under 12,000 unless it has a bullshit amount of k's on it and everything needs replacing. You get a good condition one of these and the buyer that wants one will pay up to 15,000 for one.
Redbook also said that the Liberty RS turbo is worth 10,000 - 11,500 which would be a very nice price if you can find someone to sell it at that.
So yeah redbook says alot of things.

Hey,
Yeh that's true, i actually posted a criticism of redbook just before, at them valuing sprinters very cheaply. Perhaps they keep their values down so motor vehicle duties fees for rego don't go sky high, i'm not sure. I quoted it because the owner quoted another market research company, so i thought that a little diversity in quoting may explain why he hasn't sold it straight away. But in terms of personal experiences, i saw a perfect supra turbo go for 8k here in Vic, albeit auto, about 8 months ago, absolutely immaculte, Aus delivery, 130 000 kms, was an old guys that hardly ever left the garage, nearly full service history. I held off buying because i thought to myself, well if this one had come up, then another will in manual, and i've been regretting it ever since. This was only when i first started looking into it. Additionaly, i'm not lying or something about getting one imported for 7k, i'm sure others could get it for that too. But 15 i think is just totally extravagant, but if you can sell one for that, good luck to you
Dan.

Allow me to clarify - I didn't say you quoted RedBook figures for one.
In a year of searching (In Vic, not in WA though, i have no idea what the prices of MA71's are there), autotrader, carpoint, carsales, motorpoint, drive.com, auctions fowles and autogroup every day or second day at the most, and the trading post every thursday, I havn't seen one dealer even attempt to ask 15 for a mk3 supra turbo, 13k is the highest i've seen, and they are just trying to make an unrealistic fortune as it's a piece of crap too, it's still on there now, an 88 auto, been sitting there since it came up. I can tell you that if i had 11k to spend, i could go and buy a mk3 supra turbo tomorrow, from a dealer, in perfect condition, with a 1 year warranty and drive away, if i pay their asking price... But like i said if you can sell it for that, good luck. My friend who is a nissan mechanic just sold his fully rebuilt calais turbo, with many extras, including VT SS brakes, BOV, boost controller, and the engine had had a full rebuild, for 4.8k. Sorry, but i disagree with your pricing on both issues, but as i said, i merely suggested maybe they sell a little cheaper, i wasn't looking to argue over their pricing, you were just despairing about not selling, that's all.
Good luck with the sale, Esselte.

Yeh ok, I really do hope the sale goes well, like i said, i'm talking about cars in Vic, which would be priced differently to WA, and not a car that an enthusiast has taken care of like you obviously have. BTW, if you're into that chrome look, the rims look awesome polished!
Once again, i hope you sell it to someone who will take care of it, and you get what you feel it owes you, Ess.

Seeing as i pretty much stuffed up this thread - BUMP.
Someone has to like that polished look on those rims....
I saw a 1G-GTE supra that had been driven all the way from WA to Vic yesterday, a small testament to toyota reliability, i know this is a 7m-gte, but still...
