A bigger carbie is a waste of time unless you improve the engine's breathing first. Extractors and an exhaust will give you some improvement, but any more than that is pissing money down the drain. The 21R simply isn't a performance engine.

im gonna be doing the same thing with my 18rc. ive budgeted $200ish for performance mods but i know a few people to get stuff done cheap.
head decked and mild port and polish (if hehas some spare time he said lol) $45 or a slab of woodies whichever costs more
secondhand genie extractors $20 + high temp paint $10
34 or 32/36 webber carbie (30 to 60 plus kit ???)
cam regrind $60
exhaust hmm not sure yet.
so its not too expensive for probably 10%+ power if you do the work yourself.

Really, there is a reason there is NO aftermarket for a 21R-C...a good one. Its no point polishing a turd. Drive it around, keep it reliable until you can afford something better to put in its place or into another car.

We had some genie's on our 18rc and it ran like shit when it was cold. The bolt up pattern was really poor too, they put the tubing too close to the bolt holes so we couldn't get a socket on, the whole thing had to be put on with open enders, that was all that would clear the tubes.
PAIN IN THE ARSE.
