The conversion in that article does not use hilux calipers.

Someone was doing the hilux/pug disc conversion that is done on early celicas on a sprinter. They were going to document the changes required and write up an article.

they are rose-jointed for camber adjustment. not the ideal setup as the are more fiddly, but they are still effective.

Do you have to use the corona steering arms or are the sprinter ones fit? I have fitted my coilovers and are waiting to get some shocks then im done.

I dont have the shocks yet. I have shortened the struts 40mm so im probably going to get sw20 front struts and small spacers.

Does anyone know if we get kyb agx's in Australia as a few people on club4ag have used them and they sound allright.

How do the XT130 struts affect the camber when using the standad sprinter bottom arms?

i dont think AGX come as inserts...
with the camary shocks
i filled some off the lip in the bottom to get them to sit lower
then use the stock corona stop nut and got it machined out to the top of the shock so i didnt need any spacers and it locates the top of the shock perfectly...

im also using corona struts, shortened 40mm with an ae86 world weld in coil over kit, with king sping pro sports springs (300lb) and k-mac strut tops, brembo vented rotor and rebuilt hilux calipers with lucas pads

as for the camber it gave me about 0.8 - 1deg extra positive camber

Read my article ppl's i explain most things in there.
you DO NOT need corona steering arms, you can use the sprinter ones. and if you follow my instructions, the lower control arm WILL NOT foul the disc before anyone asks about that.
EMP-2TG, i think the reason you needed the corona steering arms is because the holes are very slightly to wide on the corolla steering arms compared with the corona struts but you can get around that easy, however on sprinters they fit perfect.

Cool1, sorry but i do not have a digital camera, that pic was with a standard camera and i dont have any more photos of the lower control arms specifically unfortunately. Confused

Re: Hilux calipers on AE86??? Wed, 02 July 2003 13:02 Go to previous messageGo to next message
So with HiLux calipers on XT130 struts, the disk must be 266mm? 20mm thick? And I use XT130 hubs right, machined 1.2mm?

Just checking. I was wondering if I can use my existing Tarago disks and hubs I have on the XT130 struts. They are 256mm diameter I think, 20mm thick. The hubs are the wrong offset.

Re: Hilux calipers on AE86??? Fri, 04 July 2003 09:32 Go to previous message
you machine 1.2mm off the 'hat' of the disc not the hub. i dont know if you can or cannot do the hub, but i would say it would be cheaper and easier to just machine the disc while your getting the outside diameter machined anyway. the machining of the hat of the disc is what also give the disc clearance from the lower control arm, though you could prob grind a fraction off the end of the lower control arm it wouldnt affect it in any way.
