Freak ok, i now have a choice of two turbo's, one is a T-25 (from a ca18det), one is a Tc-06 (from a mitsubitchi cordia) i was told the Tc-06 is simular in size as a T-28? is this correct? ze turbo guy's, which do you think would work/perform better on the ze?

sorry dude, i dont have a ZE, but just a word of advice, check and re-check exactly which CA18 T25 you are getting, there are several different trims, all performing differently.

are you looking for all out power, at the sacrifice of lag, or do you want it to be streetable, without heaps of boost? If the cordia was a leaded model, they are a fairly laggy turbo, but have good flow, similar in size to a T3.

If you have the option, I dont think you could go past a Nissan RB20 ball bearing turbo, but they are ceramic, so 14psi will be the most you can reliably run, brilliant boost response though.

Cheers

Phil

Freak ok, then. how exactly do i find out which T-25 it is, on the ca18det??(is there a site or something that would have the specs?) the cordia i believe is a leaded one, so simular in size to a T3, apart from the lag, is it a reasonable turbo? when about's in the rev range would it normally spool up? i want it to be steetable, but later after i can afford a after market computer, i would like to wind the boost UP! yeehaaa. Grin for now i'll probably run with 8-12 psi. thanks for your help.

cant say when a cordia turbo would spool up on a ZE, since the two motors are different capacity, different compression, different manifold design etc.

what i meant to say in my previous post is that there are several types of T25, not several types of CA18 T25's. Here's some info i found previously, i cant remember which site it came from though:

"There is much confusion surrounding the turbo's that are fitted factory to the Pulsar GTiR, CA18DET Silvia, SR20DET Silvia and the local 200SX. Below are the specs to these units. Hopefully this will clear it up for some.

T25 (As fitted to the CA18DET S13 Silvia and 180SX)
Compressor - 45 trim T3 wheel with 0.48 A/R T25 diffuser
Turbine - 1.77" wheel (62 trim), 0.49 A/R T25 housing

T25G (As fitted to the S13 SR20DET Silvia and 180SX)
Compressor - 50 trim T3 wheel with 0.8A/R T25 diffuser
Turbine - 1.77" wheel (I think the trim is 62), 0.64 A/R T25 housing

T28 (As fitted to the Local S14/200SX)
Compressor - 60 trim T3 with T04B 0.6AR diffuser
Turbine - 1.85" wheel (76 trim), 0.64 A/R T25 housing

T28 (As fitted to the Pulsar GTiR)
Compressor - 60 trim T3 with T04B 0.6AR diffuser
Turbine - Not sure of wheels, most likely same as 200SX above though. 0.83 A/R T25 housing

GT2530? As fitted to the new S15 Silvia. Pure speculation on this one. It is a GT25 turbine for sure of an unknown trim and A/R. Most likely has a T3 sized compressor based on the GT wheel design but probably made from plastic composite material as Nissan is fond of doing. The turbine wheel is also likely to be ceramic. Of course the center section is ball bearing.

As far as straight bolt ups go, only the T2x series are easily swappable as they share the same exhaust flange. This means a T25, T25G or a T28 can be swapped around. "

cheers

thank's dude,
i think i'll go with the t25 of the ca18det, it will do what i need for now, plus it is a newer turbo than the one on the cordia, so hopefully it wont have as much wear? i can alway's upgrade after i've won lotto Grin (sorry just dreaming there) Sleep

I'd recomend the T-25.
They are easily upgraded, as TE72 said the T-2x series turbo's have interchangeable turbine housings, a T-3 comp cover can fit on with an adapter ring and all T-3 comp wheels can be fitted.
I have a T-25 from a CA-18DET on my mazda 323 (BF DOHC TURBO), it starts making boost around 1800rpm and full boost comes in around 3000rpm.
The Cordia TC-06 is old skool tech like the CT-20's off 3T's, the best part about them is the comp cover, easily interchanged with other mitsi turbos.
Just my 2c.

Glenn
