1JZ inlet manifold removal Mon, 30 June 2003 21:24 Go to next message
Hi all

Ive been busy polishing my pipes and cam covers, but the only thing left is the inlet manifold.

How big a job is it to remove the inlet manifold and replace? Im okay with a spanner but im no mechanic (ive replaced the turbos before though).

Is it an easy task to take on? As you can see it doesnt quite match the polished bits Very Happy

Wow! That is shiny. Basically what I was told is that you can remove it, but you have to make sure it is replaced with the correct torque settings and in the correct order....so I haven't done it Razz

By the way, that was for a 1GGTE, but the principle would be the same.

It's ALOT harder than a 2JZ but not as hard as a 7M. Very Happy

Basicaly the bolts that bolt it to the lower runners are hard to see with the engine in the car. Once you have disconnected all the vac lines it's fairly straight forward. I took off the throttle body first as well.

Once you have done that everything going ok you should have something that looks like this

cheers Very Happy but do the bolts have to be torqued to a specific setting and/or in the correct order when refitting?
