1J Spark Plugs / Gap ?

All As the subject says, what spark plugs do you recommend for a mildly worked over 1J and what gap do you recommend from experience. Needs to reliably handle 12 to 18 psi boost and 200+ rwkw. Seems to be a common problem on 1Js - someone should have it sussed by now. Thanks in advance

The guy at Toyota recommended 0.8 mm, he said any longer and they can flame out. I've got them at 0.8 mm and they work OK but my 1jz is stock as a rock.

NGK BKR6E gapped at 0.028" and you will have no problems. Do NOT WASTE your money on Platinum plugs.
cheers

Thanks guys. Recommendations so far are:-
Nippon Denso PK20R 8 gapped to 0.9mm Halo H-9A's gapped to 0.9mm NGK BKR6EP-8 gap to 0.9mm NGK BKR6E gapped at 0.028"/~0.71mm Unknown gapped to 0.028"/~0.71mm Standard gapped to 0.8mm
I hope my calculation of 0.028" to ~0.71mm is about right.
Advice against Platinum plugs seems to be pretty universal. Would this mean that normal plugs would need to be changed more regularly than platinum ones and if so at what frequency?
There seems to be two distinct trains of thought on gapping (assuming my imperial to metric calcs are accurate), 0.9 mm or 0.7mm as well as the standard 0.8mm. Can anyone explain the theory/experience behind the gap differences? Will fuel RON impact the recommended gap?
Anyone else with input? The Halo's come very highly recommended with apparent considerable performance gains and fuel economy improvement.

The sticker on my Soarer says 1.1mm gap ... just to throw another number into your confusion.
There are varying specs from 0.8mm to 1.1mm that I've seen. I'm currently running BKR6E plugs at 0.8mm gap without a problem.
The issue with spark plugs is that if they are open too wide, you will get misfiring. If the gap is smaller, it will prevent misfire, but at a cost to performance/power. Running a smaller gap than factory spec is usually a case of trying to hide a problem that is there without actually fixing the problem.
Our problem in Australia is the rarity of decent high octane fuel (Soarers require 100RON), so I would suggest around 0.8-0.9mm gap due to the lower octane rating of our fuel.
