Hi,
I have a hilux with shift on the fly 4WD. It hasn't been working so well lately and I think I my 4WD computer may not be working so well.
Does anyone in Melbourne have a Hilux/4runner with shift on the fly 4WD? If so, would you mind trying my computer in your vehicle or vice versa?
Alternatively if any one know of somewhere that's wrecking a sutiable vehicle, I would be interested in getting in contact with them.
I have tried a few wreckers and none of them seem to have the part (I think the word computer scares them off). I'd really like to know if the computer is the issue before I resort to ordering one new from Toyota.
Thanks in advance,
David

i have fixxed many of these and often it is the 4wd select motor on the transfer case. It is repairable in most cases. Take it to your local auto electrician if you are unsure of what it is as parts for this type of car are likely to be costly and you will not be adle to return the 4wd control unit once you buy it.

Thanks for the idea, I didn't even think to go to an auto-elec. I was thinking the average mechanic might not know where to start with the system, unless they were very familiar with Hiluxes. I will see if i can't find a auto-elec that's familiar with the system.
Thanks again,
David
