Mate, calling a Buick Grand National UGLY is a sin that should be punishable by, I don't know, something bad.
Kenny Duttweiler was running mid to low sevens in '92 - '93 with a red one of these (full race car).
I guess that I have been well fed on a steady diet of Buicks since I was a young'un. Dad was a member of the Buick GS club of America and we used to get their news letter every 2 months. I have been in love with T Type Grand Nationals and GNX Buicks ever since. My drag racing career was born in a 1972 GS Stage 1, weighing 2062 kG (with driver) and ran a best of 12.86 @ 105 m/ph.
Love the clip, that is freakin awesome.

I guess that it is an American car thing. I love the look of the GN Buick. I think that it helps if one is in touch with the era of these cars - that one is around '86 to '88 vintage and looks 10x better than anything that we could get locally at that time. Think VL - VN Commonwhore? XF - EA Falcon? or AW11 MR 2? Nissan Exa?
I do agree that it's performance is what makes it most attractive, but in terms of vintage, it is no Ugly Duckling.
