Hey all, well i finally got me a TA22, now i'm starting my trip down the long road of modifications. Firstly i'm working on a bit of a stereo and have a few questions for anyone who has done this before or knows anything about the installations.
Today i laybyed the Pioneer 304CDOUBLE 2 x 12" sub box from JB HiFi for a bit of added bass. My questions regarding this issue are....
1. Is there any concerns with running subs and amps in the boot with the fuel tank being right there behind it all???
2. What recommendations can be made about an amp for the subs? They are listed as 1200 Watts Peak / 600 Watts R.M.S.
3. Finally, the car came with pioneer 16cm 2 ways in the doors and 180 watt 16cm 3 ways in the parcel shelf running of a sony 45 x 4 head unit. Will these speakers be ok to run with subs or should i be changing them to something a bit different?
Thanks in advance to anyone who can shed some light on all of this for me....

on the flipside - if your rear 3 ways are half decent - amp those and the fronts up to a decent 4 by 65watt + amp - the 3 ways will THUMP ..
ta22's are renounded for audio goodness - 3 ways just seem to sound RIGHT in the back .. if you want to save some bootspace + some dollars

nah i'm not too worried about losing some boot space and i've already got a deposit on the subs..... so does anyone have suggestions about what amp to run the subs with because i don't fully understand how to choose the right one.

you could either run a 2 channel amp ( one channel for each sub ) and the speakers off the head unit - OR get a 4 channel bridgeable - run the fronts and the subs off that - and use the rears to fill in ..
any good audio guru would be able to dial in the fronts to focus on highs and mids - and the subbies for the pure bass

i'm not an audio guru, but, from personal experience :
you need a big amp to power those subs. they will sound shit if you don't believe me.
i'd personally use the jaycar AA0435 - its a 4 x 100w amp - $450 - if your'e up in sydney chat with witzl - i think he can get stuff cheaper.
you can bridge it into 2 channels (one for each sub) - which will give you 300w RMS (i checked the specs on your subs at pioneeraus.com.au - which says 600 peak 300 rms - so this will take care of your subs just fine.
you may find your subs drown out everything, you'll need to spend time fiddling with it to get the sound how you like it dude - try balancing everything up by adjusting the crossover point on your sub amp/adjusting the level a bit to tone em down if things get too muddy.
eventually when my ta22 gets done it will have splits on the back shelf and 2 x 10" JBL's in enclosures in the boot. the head unit on the other hand will be nowhere to be seen. actually neither will the splits or subs (unless you open the boot) for that matter.

when it comes to mounting amplifiers in the boot of a car with a fuel tank in there, my personal liking is to have the amplifier and all it's wiring very heavily fuse protected, certain to be safe from "wear and tear shorts", and the amplifier to be very well fixed as far away from fuel and fumes as possible.
As for supplying jaycar amps. Yes i can help if you are in sydney
