1JZ-GTE boost sensor?

just a query... someone i talked to said there was a boost sensor for the 1jz... i dont see how it would make sence cause if there was air getten to the motor it would automatically boost and lean out "if" there was a boost sensor and it couldnt retard the timing and drop more fuel...
could the malpassi fuel reg have any thing to do with it if its not tuned properly?
still cant get my motor to boost... ne thoughts... will try any thing?
thanks
Pete

As mentioned above, the 1JZ uses a MAP sensor. That means the ECU always knows exactly what the manifold pressure is, so there's no need for a separate "boost sensor".

could this map sensor be faulty? and if it is... would it cause it not to boost? or any thing else for that matter

the turbos are of the car atm... one seems to be fine and the other one has slight chips on the exhaust wheel... and when the bov goes of there is alot of air comin out so its making "boost" but its not working...
if i was to "t" in the boost guage just before the plenum that would give me the most correct reading right?

yuo mean tee into one of the vacuum pipes on the inlet manifold? yep this would give you the pressure reading.

sorry OT: but hedgehog snadwich: If the 'decat' you have in your signature is referring to the hollowing out of the cat, i don't think it is a good idea to be telling everyone on a public forum that you have it as the police can look at these forums too. There is a BIG ASS fine for having a hollowed or no cat!!!!!
just letting you know man.
anyway, carry on

There is the MAP Sensor for the engine, sits on the firewall and has a vac line to the plenum. There is a Boost Sensor for the Stock Boost Gauge near the shock tower behind the fuse box.
