Hey, your car looks very nice.

I plan to do some mods to mine as soon as I get some money.

How much is the recon. head costing you? And approximately, how much more power will it give?

And I just love the steering wheel.

Bugger. I wote a whole post then lost it when something else decided to load up in the same window. Grr.

Thanks both of you. As I said, I'm hoping for 150 horses, but thats from the whole lot, not just the head. There would be some benefit from having a fresh head with OS valves, but it's about the whole thing as a whole. Stock is 105 so that's pretty decent without spending a heap, I just hope the tired bottom end can cope. I can't really say how much the head cost. I bought it as
a package deal from a nice guy on the OCC list who is moving over here. Don't know how much a head would cost to recondition on it's own, but I'd hate to think how much it would cost to do the whole engine.

Frank has a wheel like this too Smile They pop up on Ebay every now and then. There was one recently with a trd horn button, i checked just then it's ended but went for only $81! http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&a mp;item=2421735177&category=43808&rd=1 don't suppose it was you. Sad

its a credit to you and to '65s. Smile
Looks great.. proves that an old car can quite often look better than new ones... In my opinion anyhow.

I love 65's, alwyas have.. i would kill to eb able to get my hands on one at all.. let alone in that sort of condition.

Excellent job Very Happy

Peace

Wow, thanks heaps! Huge compliments. What car do you drive (I recognise your sig, and Brian someone's US RA65 on celicas.org)

Unfortunately it doesn't go that well. Engine still leaks oil somewhere though I can't really tell, smells like burnt oil after a hard run but doesn't seem to be coming out of the exhaust. Perhaps leaking an being cooked on the outside of the engine I guess (hope) rather than being used as such. Actually smells like burnt degreaser (I guess) instead ever since I degreased the top half of the engine to try to diagnose the oil leaking problem - guess I didn't rinse it off well enough!

Drove behind a truck and got some chips in my windscreen too that I will ahve to fix, and the rear windcreen wiper rubber deteriorated so last time I used it it went scratch all across the window Sad

I'd love to take a Ta63/4 for a drive one day to see how the 3tgte goes in this chassis. And compare it to a modded 22RE. A lot less torque, but perhaps lighter? I'm a bit confused, on Matti Kalihati's [spelling] site, the stock specs of the 3tgte seem to be ~150lb/ft torque, but in his carina the lisetd stock specs are more like 200lb/ft. Which would make a big difference.

I lost my digi cam a week again so can't take more pics until I buy a new one sometime Sad

My old car was an RA60.. like narks.. ive also had a 'rolla, and a sprinter-levin.

the avatar is brians C-S Smile (LOL... i said brains.. i really can't spell at times)
you probably have seen me about, used to be here all the time.

hmmm.. the oil leak isn't good, but if you can find it, at least its fixable Smile
the back window is a bitch though.. i never really used the back wipers LOL.. but i used to go over my car every weekend Smile you'll find that you do that a few times though.. who thinks about the rear wipers?! lol

and you have another reason that i dont like trucks on public roads. >.<

The difference in engines... lol.. well, you'll notice it Very Happy
i think the weight is a big issue.. the lighter you can go the better you'll fidn these.. ask nark about his 60 and bumps while turning Wink

Have fun.. im gonna keep searchign about for a new car Smile

Peace
Katsuchiyo
