Hi all, working on my conversion, Cressida GX60 puttin in the 1G TTurbo. just about getting the Dashboard in (Supra GA70).
Also wanted to use the Drive shaft from the GA70, but turned out 2 be 5 inches short in total, So sent that of to the machine shop to add specially made adaptors 2.5 inches mid shaft assy, and the other 2.5 inches at the tail assy. In theory should work, don't know about vibrations yet until i try it. Flywheel also lightened by 1KG. Would the original Cressi shaft stand the power and torque of the 1G ?...cause when laying side by side..the Supra Shaft is like a Sledgehammer to a tooth pick,
Any ideas ?? or feedback appreciated.
cheers

Did the tail shafts come out of the same gearbox?
Or was one an auto and the other a manual?

No both are manuals, Cress W57 & Supra W58 (i think )
just that the Supra has an open ended axle, where else the Cress is Rigid type.

I would say that it would be safer to go with the supra tail shaft.
Did you have an N/A 1G in the car before?

Have a look at this article
http://www.toymods.org.au/Darren/build_notes.htm
It will give you an idea of the power differance of the N/A engine and the turbo engine.
There is a fair bit of differance.
Not sure if the tail shaft extension will affect the strength, hopefully someone else would be able to answer that, but I still think the supra one is the go.
Good luck with your conversion.

That's about what I paid for mine, which was a Hilux tailshaft modified to fit in a Supra. That included a new centre bearing too. Hilux tailshafts are quite big so that's an option to consider.

Get a custom one-piece tailshaft made up if it will fit. I did that on my Mk3. Worked a treat, cost me less that one-fiddy, and weighs about ¼ that of the Mk3 Supra shaft.
The Supra one has three layers - metal tube, rubber inner, and an outer metal tube. They're not that strong, I twisted my factory one - had no problem with the one piece.

Thank you all for your advice, Yes it was a 1G-GEU N/A and now the swap is taking place, 3rd GEN 1G-TTurbos, The hilux diff sounds like a good bet, but would like to see how the Cress handles with the GA70 Shaft, The fact that a factory Shaft get twisted is sending chills down the spine, How is performance affected (if any) if a 1pcs is used ISO the 2 pcs and centre bearing type etc ?
YEs have noticed the rubbber inner linings, don't know why the're there except for absorbing vibes. Well i guess it's try and error...
