200sx vs Prelude

Hi guys, I AM a fan of Toyota and they are the best and I love them very much but... for what I wan't they dont have
I have $20k to spend on a car (yes its all mine! I earned it) but I am 22 (in 2 months) and insurance is killing me!
I was so close to getting a s14 200sxx turbo, until I got quotes. There is no fkin way I am paying $3k (justcars) or $3.7k (RACQ) a year for insurance! I have a flawless record, and I still get treated like a hoon.
The insurance prices for a 93-96 (whatever model that is) vti-r Prelude are alot more reasonable, but then I miss out on the rear-wheel turbo bit!
I was hoping some of you guys could tell me how a Prelude Vtir 96 model compares in performance (primarily accelaration) to a s14 200sx turbo (minor mods, up to 5k on engine on both cars).
I expect the 200 will win in this category, but by how much? Is it worth the $2000 extra a year in insurance? Would a vti-r integra be alot better than the prel?
The last thing I want is to by a car, and then wish I got something faster
Thanks guys!

trubos usually win in terms of power over naturally aspirated cars, especially when given a budget of 5k

VTI-r are slow !
just look at 180sx's insurance are about $1500 with famous car insurance for under 25.
180sx are prety quick easily a 12 sec car with 5k worth of mods.
a GTST would kill you in insurance.
You could always stick to toyota and get a 90's supra or a soarer

For any budget, the 200SX is going to kill the Prelude. For a budget of $5k the difference is only going to get MUCH bigger.

FWIW, I don't know about the earlier models, but Wheels did a comparison test in 2001 between Prelude VTi-R and S14 200SX.
Times given are for 0-100 and 0-400m
200SX 7.0 15.1
Prelude 7.7 15.8

Times are one thing, but for me it would boil down to RWD vs FWD. and I can only say this.
RWD........
