Calipers and rotor sizes Fri, 04 July 2003 07:24 Go to next message
I'm looking at using some calipers that were originally used on 324x30mm rotors together with some 320x32mm rotors.
Can anyone see any problem with this? I just want to know if the calipers will work with the rotors that are 2mm thicker Confused

Any thoughts?

wouldnt the pad rub on the disk for sure??? i always thought that there was little space between the pad and the rotor.

You probably could but you will have excessive pad rub. Judging by your other posts, I presume you are investigating using those R33 Brembos.
What you could do is machine a spacer plate to go between the two caliper halves. The spacer of course would be 2 mm thick, have to be ground to a perfectly flat finish and be made from a similar alloy as the calipers (so it has a similar thermal expansion coefficient). There may be some other minor issues (like pad return springs or pad holding pins) but these can be easily overcome.

Thanks for that. I might look at using something different.
I want to make things easy to replace/repair in the future if need me.
