4agze diagnostic codes Fri, 04 July 2003 07:26 Go to next message
Howdy

I have the following codes 42, 52 which i think are:

42: Vehicle Speed Sensor (no speed sensor, ok cause its not on)
52: #1 Knock Sensor (no response, very bad?)

Ummm from looking at the code booklet 53 is #2 knock sensor failure... Does this mean the knock sensor is functioning seeming there is no code 53?

Thanks

52
KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL
--OPEN OR SHORT IN KNOCK SENSOR SIGNAL
--KNOCK SENSOR/CIRCUIT to ECU

Having no knock sensor could be bad when your giving it shit.
See if any of the wires have come off the sensor ( i dont know where it is) if not the sensor has probably died.

Reset the ecu (disconnect battery for a bit) and do the diagnostic test again after you drive it.. If it comes back you know theres something definatly wrong.

Ok ill do that right now...

The wire is connected unfortunately Sad I think i have a spare sensor somewhere

Damn knock sensors are a pain in the butt to get too, they are on the back (in fwd anyway) under all the stuff Sad

Hmmm think it will take me atleast an hour to undo this thing cause its damn tight and cant get anything in to undo the damn thing

Thanks,

Stuart

If you jack the car up you can get to the knock sensor from underneath pretty easily...

i wouldnt worry with knock sensor error unless the car feels bit laggy

i know they sometimes come on if timing is bit advanced
proper 4agze knock sensor are very hard to find
there is not many spare ones around

check the timing i run about 12 degrees on them
make sure it doesnt ping

sometimes i think stupid noises can set the knock sensor off
usually knock sensor error comes on when u hit hi revs

but if the car feels good i wouldnt worry bout it
