 mx83 1j conversion. NEED HELP LOST REVERSE

 well cant seem to find reverse on the auto. was workingfor about a week but no longer shifts into gear. the revs change as normal for the gear change so am assuming its not a computer problem. antone have any ideas on what it could be. all other gears run fine.

had this prob on my old mx73 5m-ge powered croozer  , where if the car was at a standstill, i wouldnt select reverse.
could be attributed to auto tranny leak?
not sure, just sold the car it before it totally died on me. 
(for the time being)
if you want to get it into reverse, just put in Drive and let car roll forward, then while the car is creeping forward, put into reverse. somehow it grabs reverse!

This one is fairly simple YOUR BOX IS f#*$ED i have had this prob 3 times and now the auto guywont rebuild them 4 me as a new one is very cheapp from sss....if u keep driving w o reverse u end up with itself changing MANUALLY with excess pressure behind each gearchange letting off a chirp at even 30 klms i still have a f#*$ed 1 u can have if u want to frieght it... good 4 drag racing.........

yup box is kaput...
its possibly a diaphram spring but I don't know how the inside of them works exactly....either way it will have to come and and cost$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$4 to fix

Auto gear boxes have 2 clutchs in them usually. What has happened the clutch ( about 12 friction plates) have lost the friction material and you find foward works great but no reverse. usually the forward goes but you can still reverse.
Either rebuild or get swap.
You must use the right oil. about 3 yeras or so ago all manufactures changed the make up of auto fluid. It causes problems with some boxes.
Also old boxes with asbestos belts began to fail. Also some jap boxes especially misubishi/daewoo
As with engine oils " oils an't oils"
