I was told that the 2TG oil pumps are better than the std single cam 2t motor. They are suppose to flow better, but i wouldn't mind getting my hands on that trd one your friend has "roadrunner".
Can you send me his contact details to supra7mgte@hotmail.com please?
thanks

Hi Guys,
I was told the std 2TG oil pumps are better than the single 2T ones and that it's not recommended to use it in you twin cam application.
But anyway, "roadrunner" could i have those contact details of your friend who has the TRD oil pump as I'm interested in buying it. If you could send those details to my email supra7mgte@hgotmail.com, that'll be much appreciated. Thanks
Frank

So you're saying the 18R and 18RG oil pumps are the same as the 2T and 2TG one's?

no im saying look at a 18r 1 then look at a 18rg 1 it has a spacer of 4mm so it is a high volume pump thats what the trd 2tg is like with a 4mm spacer

How do you know that the 2TG TRD oil pumps use the same alteration as the 18RG TRD ones? Have you seen this? If that's all it is, i'll just change mine.
I was told it's not a good idea to increase the strength of the spring (or what ever the spacer does) as it does increase the volume of oil, just the pressure. Now i can see this breaking out in a huge argument about "if you increase pressue, you increase the volume" saga, but it's not the case. But a little extra pressure never hurts.
Cheers for the TRD insight.

when we raced 2tg we put a 10mm bolt in where the spring, releave valve also make sure the welsh plugs at the back of the cams dont pop out your pressure drops off fast if that happens

Hmm, a 10mm spacer. What specs was the motor you were running? Did you change the crank with the 3T crank? What class racing was it?
Do you have any stuff left over or know anyone with stuff left over (like TRD gear or any other goodies)?
You can email me directly if you want as i'll be very interest in spares you might have.

You should fuck with your oil pump unless you know what your doing. And even then shit goes wrong. fuck up your oil pump and you have probably less than 30 second before your engine says bye bye

Why do you want a "bigger" oil pump anyway ????
If you actually have a real reason for needing one then look no further than the 3TGTE They have a higher volume pump to maintain oil pressure thru the turbo and turbo lines. They are distinctly different to a 2T or 2TG one when placed side by side.
And yes I do have one but no its not for sale sorry.

a guy i know (Tims Toys) modifies T series oil pumps by putting R series gears in it. similarly, you can modify K series pumps with T series gears, and also R series pumps by adding the K series gear to it.
since they are all the same outside diameter, and the different series have different thicknesses of gears, if you put a thicker gear in your pump body, and get a spacer made up to increase the depth of the pump body, you have increased oil volume by % increase in thickness (approx)
so, you can get an R series pump, and use those gears in the T body. (BE AWARE: you need to either modify the R shaft, or attach a T shaft to the R gears)
so, does anyone have a good condition T series pump they'd want to part with? TG or TC is fine i think, as long as it's thicker than a K series pump

Hey Justin, how much would you want for the 3tgt pump? I might need one depending on the oil-pressure problem diagnosis I get in the next few days. CHeers, Chris.
