Let me tell you about the Adelaide AUTOSALON, About two months ago I wrote to the Auto salon guys to ask if my 1980 RA40 Celica (BLUEWIRE) is ok to enter the show being that its won 5 category’s and won top ten in Adelaide …They said it was too old to enter and the cut off year was 1986 cars ….....so I thought well fair enough.

Then I go to the show at $17 for admission to see an early 70 RX2 Mazda, HQ panel van and 69 Camaro.

Now why did they tell me my Celica was too old?

Now im not bagging the Adelaide Auto salon but they need to sought this out….

The same thing happened to Toymods. We had club entries in the Sydney Auto Salons but were not exactly made welcome.

The reason given to us for why there were a butt load of old rotors, 1600s and things was that they were all there for merchant displays. Basically if you are willing to pay enough they'll display anything you want.

Because them cars were part of a stand, like the dark blue Rx2 from city discount tyres, you know that one with dents all over the roof.......
Individual entrants are hard to get into that show, cause it is more of a travelling circus than an actual car show/shine.
Just like up the back corner you see 10 lancers all the same with different colour factory paint jobs so you can tell them apart.
Auto salon has no appreciation for people who work their ass of to rebuild a old street car, they only care about the company down the road that can create a tax dodge show car and spend some ludicrous $$$ figure on a brand new car that didn't even need a facelift.. Mad

just my 2 cents Embarassed

did you see the fully sik tricked out exel Rolling Eyes

alot of the cars were just ricers with big sound systems and a bit of upolstery work, alot of the other cars were all pretty similar. If it wasn't for the chicks it wouldn't have been worth the money. overall it was OK but nothing special.

If Bluwire was there I would have at least bothered to fill out the voting form, its definatly poor form that they knocked you back.

i believe only a handful of cars had very nice stero systems. i went there to get a few ideas on installs on my car audio only to be disappointed with the quality of the equipment these cars had in them. dont get me wrong there is nothing wrong with all the big names like alpine, pioneer clarion etc but there seemed to be a lacking to the stage of non existence of the prestige names in car audio like soundstream, tru technology, image dynamics, bramaha audio, dynaudio, morel, audison, JL audio, orion, ads etc etc etc

for so call show cars which they have made a stero a feature its very disappointing to $200 subs in the back of a car with a $400 amp to drive. not that im saying price is the all and end all but however but of this gear i would be relucant to put in my girlfriends car.

$17 entry is a rip off. i only stayed for about a hour as the place was far too overcrowd and was able to appreciate the few cars there that deserved to appreciated. i also noticed that the quality of the cars seemed much lower compared to last year
