Engineering problems...

I'm putting a 4AGZE into a Sprinter and would like to get it engineered and (semi)legit. But I just found out that it can only be engineered if it is running the stock computer (NB I am in Vic). Unforch I don't have one (I have a loom cut at firewall) and have a V4 Wolf instead. So my options seem to be:
- Find/borrow and fit a stock computer to get it running, even if somewhat dodgy, then fit the Wolf once engineered.
- Gut wolf and put it in a factory looking computer box and rely on stupid engineer
- Put dummy factory computer in footwell and hide the Wolf, which is actually running the car, elsewhere.
- get the Wolf working then splice off enough wires so I can plug in a factory computer to get it through engineering.
- Dump the whole engine and fit a 3SGTE with stock computer instead.
Anyone got any idea of the easiest path? Please put your 2 cents in.

if you can find a lenient engineer (ask around the melb car clubs, they're bound to know one), then chances are he wont look too carefully at the ecu, as long as you make the wiring look professional.
*not* like my engine bay, everyone at the dyno day will tell you

henn, its coz your car is post 76 - it seems that most things after that date have to have the stock computer OR have to be emission tested (at significant cost)
run it on gas. no emissions required. but not ideal for everyone (except for me and mrshin)
borrow a 4AGZE computer
ditch the SC when engineering, borrow a 100kw or 86kw ecu - rig that up get it going and running nice, get it engineered then do what you want...
OR
get a stock ecu case, put the wolf INSIDE that and make it look like its the stock ECU?
just my thoughts here...

Tune it properly and you'll pass emissions test.

thanks guys,
the problem with emissions is that the test is long and complicated and costs many thousands. It's not just a sensor in the exhaust.
And as for pretending its just a 4AGE, I may as well pretend its a 4AC in that case and not engineer at all.
I have a long lineup of problems before this one really becomes critical, but I thought it may need some serious work. Any other ideas??

Just hide the ECU and put an old standard ECU in plain sight under the dash.
I had a conversation about this exact thing with an engineer the other week. The guy I spoke to said he just needs to see the standard ECU to save his arse. What you do with it after the engineering is your problem.
Simple as that.
