Hiya all
I am planning to put a 1JZ-GTE engine into a RA40 that had a 18R-C engine in it. Is this possible? Has anyone done this from here? Also where can i find the engine weight for all makes/models etc. like how much does an 18R-C weigh and 1JZ-GTE weigh?
thanx in advance, Zombrax

Whoo, hope you dont like traction much........!
I also doubt that the 1J will fit, the 18rc is longish, but not that long, you may be able to mount a radiator in front of the main strut bar though...that would be my suggestion....
Also, how is this legal??
Finally, why a RA40 , I had one with cam, twin carbs, exhaust and they are buckets of shit.
If you are going to do a mod this serious, at least put it into a RA60 coupe that will give you much better handling. I would also say the brakes on both of these cars are not even half up to the task. Do not expect change from $5000 and you will definitely need a front cut.
I would look at other options, perhaps a turbo sprinter engine.

A 1JZ-GTE will fit in an RA23 without mods to the firewall, so it can be done in an RA40 as well (engine bay is about the same size). Definitely not an easy project though - I reckon you're better off with the 1G conversion which is a piece of piss by comparison and will probably cost half as much (or less).
