I tried very hard once to get the best MPG out of mine AE-86 when it had the 4AC in it, and I managed 44MPG once. Around town it'd do low 30's no probs.
With the new & somewhat modified 4AGE that has nearly double the power, I can get 42MPG on the highway and high 20's/low 30's around town. And that's with a 4.3 diff instead of the single cam's 3.9.
The best I ever got out of a tank of fuel with the single cam was 715km, with a few litres left in the tank. I reckon I could have gone to maybe 750km if I was really careful.
