Now tell me i'm stupid if this won't work but.....
Why don't people buy the simmilar looking turbo diesel 2.4 Chaser and a front cut and bolt it in? Cheaper than going for the $37,990 one for sale at the moment in the Trading Post.
The turbo diesel ones are about the 11-14 grand mark and still look very pimp.

why do either when you can import one yourself for approx 25k
37k is a blatant ripoff seeing as though when new, they are only round 40-45k

Yeah that is true.
WHY DON'T MY PARENTS GET ONE?????? I get mad with them sometimes. They loved the Cressida they had and now hate the Commodore but are shy of getting a grey import. Idiots.

Last year in the T/Post there was a white '94 Cresta diesel (sim to Chaser and Mark2) low k's started at ~$10 grand and kept dropping by the month. Leather seats etc Apparently a lot of tire-kickers,they were trying to promote as a imported diesel cressida,no interest, ended up selling for around $6000!
This would have been perfect for a 1JZ update!!!
There were quite a few diesels imported & sold as they met now superceded import criteria. When they do finally come onto the market for resale should be cheap...but maybe high driver satisfaction may mean they'll be kept?

There are quite a few problems with converting a diesel to petrol. These a why I'd never take the 2C-T diesel and replace it with a 3S.
1. Fuel tank: diesel doesn't have any baffling, surge tank, or provision for internal pump, although you might be able to set up something external.
2. Gear ratio & diff ratios: diesel gearboxes tend to have a low 1st gear, high 2nd gear, and tall final drive. My car only pulls 2350rpm in 5th at 100km/h, 3S-GE petrol is pulling 3000rpm. Gearbox ratios could be fixed with the half cut, but still need to find a rear diff.
3. Major upgrades to suspension, brakes will be required. Toyota factory never intended for the diesels to do warp speed. Takes about 2km for mine to get from 140km/h to its top speed of 185km/h.
4. Tacho. If you get a matching half cut you'll be right, but otherwise redline of the petrol is off the end of the diesel tacho (Mine only goes to 6000rpm)
Probably other reasons as well.
