Removing Oil Seals

Hey guys, got a couple of questions, fairly generic...also, you'll have to apologise for my stupidity
I'm changing the front-main seal, the rear main seal, the oil pump seal and both the cam seals. I got the front-main seal out, and its been replaced, but my question is, whats the best way to get the seals out in the first place? I know they're in fairly hard, but there has to be a better way...
Also, how do I get the cam gears off?
Thanks,
Nathan

get a hold of a o-ring/seal hook, u can get them from any half decent tool shop {not super theif}
its just like a fishing hook {it stuffs them completely tho}
some use a puller, be careful, it may break them, look up the workshop manual

i usually use a screwdriver and leverage, but the seals are shot afterwards (are before anyhoo) and runs the risk of scoring the seal housing....
hardly the best way to go about it..
i'll have to look into this 'o-ring hook'

I bought this hook tool from Supercheap, it digs into the seal and levers it out without chunking the seating. I'm replacing the seals anyway so...
