icon5.gif  Km or MPH? Wed, 09 July 2003 01:21 Go to next message
Hi Guys

I'm in London England and about to buy a TA23 2000st, which has been imported from Perth. Will this car have a speedo, etc. in Km or MPH?

If it is in Km am I buggered, or can I get it converted to read MPH?

Cheers

it will be in km/h.

I can't see any conversions being a hassle, as alot of uk people get jap imported cars that are in kmh. I had the british CAR magazine once and it talked about converting jap cars, from memory they said most people just put in a second speedo. A talk with any reputable import dealer should sort you out.

failing that just write these down and put it next o your speedo

31m: 50k
37m: 60k
43m: 70k
50m: 80k
56m: 90k
62m: 100k
100m: 162K
124m: 200k

take the mph times it by 1.62
or take the kph and times it by .62

500k: 313mph Very Happy

Just swap in a MPH speedo from any TA23/RA23/RA28 Celica; it will plug straight in and read accurately with no calibration required. I'm sure these are available in the UK somewhere.

Yeah, should be able to find one to swap in there - in Australia, I've seen TA22's with both Km/h and MPH speedos. Otherwise, you can always make up/get made up a sticker, pull it apart, and stick it over the numbers, at least temporarily to get it approved Evil or Very Mad

Cheers fellas! At least that means that the mileage is only 47000 miles, cos it's only on 77000 km! Wicked!

All i would try to do is what mrshin said.

You should be able to find a face plate that would fit. or just get a other speedo Smile
