Number one, what is HKS Stage 1 2?
Number two can you try and puch the car with it in neut? The dockies might have done a great big dirty burnout. I would be taking the car back to how you brought it off if it's a car yard or importer.
I have seen some torsen diffs floating around for around $500-800 range. When a torsen goes it REALLY goes!

Stage 1 or 2 sorry. not sure which as i'll be stuffed if i've found out what either entails. Tho i have an old dyno sheet there showing 250hp at the wheels, not sure what psi that was at tho i know the evc's LOW setting is letting around 14psi through.
the car was a privet sale so no luck there.
Where can i find one of these torsen dif's from? or were you talking about second hand ones you'd seen?
How well do the stock diffs hold? I need to do some more research!

Def sounded like the rear. at first the passanger thought there was something rolling around in the boot (the clucks that is) and then maybe catching the rear skirt on the ground. so yeah its the rear end somewhere. I'll jack it up quickly tonight when i move it back home and tomorrow it goes into the mechanic (next door as it so happens!) to get checked and hopefully fixed.
Don't spose any one on here would have one for sale?
BTW its a G series dif yeah? will the 3.54 gears mentioned in the hilux dif GB fit? and will replacing just the gears fix it? Prolly hard to tell from there but estimates?
Thanx too BTW guys!

If it's a true JZA70 you will have the 4.11 Torsen in it at the moment and have a few options, you can just hunt down another torsen jza70 diff and put that in or get a normal clutch type diff from a MA70 (7M) or GA70 (1G) Supra for abit cheaper. The hilux LSD's are clutch type and yeah you should be able to swap the centres.

The Torsen LSD should act like an open diff with the wheels in the air from memory.

If it's the std diff in the JZA-70 it will say in the makers badging (under the bonnet, drivers side firewall) what diff/transaxle is in it - such as G299, G285 etc. (I think the Torsen is G299) Refer wwww.supras.nl to convert the code into the diff specs. From memory G is the 8 inch series, and the last number indicates type ie 5 is LSD, (9 is Torsen?).
Adelaide Jap wreckers did have JZA-70 diffs for sale (according to their website - wwww.adelaidejap.com.au.) A std LSD was $750 and the Torsen was $1200.
Good Luck,
Caelum
PS Since you have had the car only 1 day - how did the diff go? Were you "just driving along" (famous words from my brother when his Corolla diff "just went bang!" )... Or would there be some black marks around Mildura ???

If it's LSD, it'll fit. But it won't be a Torsen if it's out of an MA70.

They did have LSD's in the MA70 cars (coz I have one!). If it's off a NA Manual car (as mine was) it's probably a 4.3:1 LSD (non-Torsen).
If he still has the shell it came from he could check the makers plates as mentioned above, or open in up[ and have a look. I'm pretty sure most MA70 auto's are non-LSD but don't quote me on that. If it's cheap and gets you mobile again in the time you need, than you can always find a Torsen diff later on.

If it is an MA70 and turbo it will definately be lsd.
Mates NA ma70 (87 i think) manual is also lsd.
Hope that helps.
