T18 reputation?

i have recently bought a T18, i have found it has a dubious reputation. my car has modded suspension (koni shox king spring sways front + rear) and brakes (bigger 4 wheel discs). my only complaint is the arse end is a bit TOO stiff! (prolly due to the 20mm sway bar). i am totally happy with my bitch as ugly as she is.
however i was wondering why the rep?
and is it true it was marketed as a macho moblie?

T18's are basically just weird-looking Corolla's, and most of them have been neglected, hence their reputation as rusty shit-tins. Personally I like them, despite their ugliness. A T18 would be my second choice to the RA23!

Dont knock the T18!!  They are kinda the ugly duckling though, the body seems to have been designed with a set square only, but they are very unsuspecting!! (& a 4AGTE fits nicely in them  )

i agree, i have talked to a few people about this car and they recon it is crap, but i quite like it, and was considering getting one at some stage.

I should say first that I am highly biased, my first (and second) car was a T18. And I love them, they are ugly and usually full of rust, but how many other cheap, RWD, manual hatchbacks are there out there?
And yes, the macho machine ads are hilarious, I have a copy of one which I should get to you somehow.
Also goo to know that if you total the car (assuming you are OK) you cn pick up another one for $200 and bolt over all the go fast bits.
