Insurance question for Cressida owners...

O.K guys, the time has come when the insurers have their hands out for my annual renewal...
So, what I'd like to know is who has a modded Cressida (pref.MX83 for comparison's sake) who you're with etc.
I'll start.
1989 MX83
1UZ-FE conversion (stated in policy as "Motor not designed for car")
Stated as having lowered suspension (although I've yet to do the suspension...)
I'm over 30 (35, to be exact ) and have full rating one NCB.
Car is in a lock-up garage in the ACT. Second driver (wife) is same age as me with same NCB.
The insurers are quoting $929.00 PA. Insurer is Just Cars.
If others could reply in similar format, I can then get an idea of whether someone's enjoying themselves sexually at my expense, or whether others are "being enjoyed"
Thanks in advance.

Not a cressida but...
1981 MS112 Crown
88 turbo supra 7MGTE engine
manual gearbox
modified suspension
modified brakes
30 yrs old
rating 1
cost $400 per yr from shannons
give shannons a call... they won't be interested at all unless you tell them you want to insure a MODIFIED cressida
but then they should give you a good deal
cheers

I was looking at putting a different engine into the cressida I've got, but I'm under 25 with only 40% ncb.
My wallet has started bleeding just thinking about the cost of insuring it, if it's even possible, with a different engine.
I pay similar amount for my bog stock mx83 grande.

Currently - $12,000 Value, 34 years old, Good Sydney Suburb, 60% NCB, good Driving history, No Finance, Private Use, only Mods are 17x7 Rims and Tinting - Cost is about $600
BUT 3 companies I called for the conversion when done..
Same details, but Value of $20,000, Mods - 2JZ-GTE from Aristo, Wheels, Suspension lowered 1 inch, Exhaust, Intercooler, Brakes etc about $1,000 to $1,300.

You're about line-ball with me (age etc). Only differences as I see it are location and FI.
FWIW, we eventually decided to go with Shannons and have insured the Cressida (mods as stated above) for $15K agreed value and the Corolla ($4K agreed value) and the lot cost...~$1200.
~$800 for the Cressida and ~$400 for the 'Rolla...
Not great, but not TOO bad.
You might consider dropping the agreed value slightly to see what effect on premiums this has. (and, yes I DO know that you'll end up spending more than that on the project! )

Ahhh...The joys of youth!
Reminds me of when I had my old FJ1100 MC...I was 21 years old, the bike was under finance and I got a quote for $5900 agreed value (what I paid for it). The quote? $1600PA. (Needless to say it remained uninsured...and no, I wouldn't do that again!)
