Thanks EMP-2tg!
Would i need to make custom engine mounts or is there another factory type that'll suit?
With the 2T mounts not lining up perfectly, will this put the gear box and tailshaft out of wack?

u can get anway with the stock mounts if you want to
the angle is just abit steaper than what u need
but the rubber will take up the space
if you use the t50 you just have to move the stock gearbox mount to the other holes farther back
its all simple

sorry to dig up an old thread but I didn't think my questions warranted a new thread.
With the conversion will the engine bolt up to the stock gearbox or is a t50 needed? and if so will it attach to the tailshaft with no problems?
and how someone said you can get away with the stock mounts only the angle is a bit steeper then needed, what exactly will this cause to be out of wack?
also that link no longer works, anyone have a copy of it somewhere?
one more question what are the stock clutches in 2tgs like? will they take much abuse or should I invest in something slightly heavier?
cheers

If you had a K, 3K or 4K motor, then the gearbox was probably a K40. This will only fit a K series motor.
When you go to a T series motor (2T, 3T, 2T-G etc) you will need a T50 gearbox. AE71 and AE86 Corollas also use a T50 but the bellhousing is wrong. You need a gearbox from a TA22 or TA23 Celica. Or a T50 gearbox from a TE72 (T18 SE) can be used but the shifter is further back.
If you KE35-KE55 was originaly manual, then you can keep the same tailshaft when going to the 2T-G/T50 driveline, as long as the engine is mounted within the ballpark of where its ment to be. Exact engine mounting position does not matter really. Either way, you will probably have to go back to the early KE30/KE35 brake master cylinder and booster. The Australian spec KE55 item comes too close to the 2T-G carbs and trumpets.
