Haven't Mitsubishi been planning to enter a v8 magna into the touring cars for the past 5 years or something? I remember seeing a mock up of one as a v8 touring car and it looked really nice. Pity about the new fugly styling of it. How rancid does it look...

but all their updates are going to hell. The new Lancers are shocking! They lost their way after the Evo6 body shape. I still regard that as the nicest Lancer, both in looks and performance. Going from Group A to WRC really hurt the Evo

Firstly, yes I miss the "old days" of Touring car racing...
I was at Bathurst in the mid-80's watching Oz-built Holdens/Fords battling it out with FJ20-powered Bluebirds, Monster-ported RX7s, Jags etc. (They were the days!)
As for the V8 Magna...watched one go around at the Bathurst 24-hour last year. Not bad. (Shame they wont do a road-going version of it).
Oh, and I also think the new Magna looks...err...interesting.

starion will beat them all!
dont you have to have a pushrod piece of crap to compete with holden and ford? maybe that will change since they are finially bringing OHC engines.

Well, I was going through some stuff in the garage about a month ago and found all these motor magazines and official bathurst guides from about 1976 - 1983. They have some fantastic old pics in there. I'll see if I can get them scanned in and send them to you STR8 so you can host them.
I'm greatful for my dad's ability to store everything and never throw something out.

My old man has a DVD collection of bathurst races.
Has the highlights of every year since they have been recorded on tape.
6 DVDs, not sure how much it cost him.
I love watching the 80s, before they changed to the V8 formula. I love the E30 M3s, sprinters, R32 GTR's, starions.. etc etc I could go on for ages
Its just so much better.... I highly recommend the DVDs.

im pretty sure it was a celica or a supra that pioneered
" racecam" in oz .. the first live broadcast of conrod straight while driving was done in a toyota - im pretty sure it was white and red - so it could have been that ra40 in the pic !
nice to see toyota contributed someway to bringing racing to your living room seat

I don't have a scanner but I took some pics with a digital camera, they're not the best but they're still good. They're on my PC at home so I'll hopefully sent them to you tonight.
4AGE86, So he has Bathurst 1973 on DVD. Do you know where he picked them up or where I could just get 1973? My dad's XU-1 was in that race and every so often they'll have a highlight of that race start and dad can see his car but as it's only a flash I've never seen it.

I used to have a booklet around from a company with a huge selection of DVD's. Rare group B footage and other stuff.
I cant rememebr what the companys called, or where the damn booklet is, but my dad ordered it through them.
Their fairly well known....
the collections called "The Great Race 1960-2001"
