It really depends on the condition and originality of the car. Have you got one for sale?

I'm new with sprinters. All i know is they are one of the best cult cars. I always had a thing for toyotas and as a loyal toyota customer i want to buy another one. Just had my mr2 gt turbo stolen and didn't have insurance So with the few dollars in my pocket i want to buy a sprinter knowing that i can fit a 4agze (turbo not supercharger) or maybe a 3sgte (the best 2L turbo in business no matter what ppl say) further down the track. I'm keeping an eye on this forum plus the trading post. No luck so far. Please let me know if there is anything i need to know or any advice you can give to this newbie.

G'day folks..
Im new to the club and know very little about alot of the Toyota's. I used to own a Skyline, but it got trashed in an accident recently so now I am with out and vehical at all.. I was thinking of getting another Skyline, but I have also been looking into getting an AE86 Sprinter, The jap model over an aus model. I was just hopeing someone might be able to give me some details on prices and availibility etc.. I'd rather the one with the pop up lights too, in the Panda White.
Cheers
Scott

It's 1991 model with 200.000km on the clock, unmodified, interior is like brand new, from the first owner who was an old man who passed away recently, no blue smoke or leaks. Bought it for $6000. As i said it wasn't what i was looking for but came at the right time for the right price.

iori,
good condition JDM sprinters are hard to come by these days. THat's cause in japan, the ae86 is even more popular than they are over here. This means that the locals are willing to pay a WAY higher amount for one in good condition. So don't have a heart attack when you find out the prices.
8-10k will get you a thranged up, drifted out junker 86. (no choice of color as well).
10-15k will get you something half decent. Chassis in *reasonable* condition, engine may still be going strong, a bit of rust. (it will still be an ex race car though). A bit of structural damage.
15+ will get you something neat, and tidy, maybe even original.
-----
In australia, no importer wants to import these and keep them as stock. This is because of 2 main reasons, as I've been told.
1. Finding something decent is very hard. It is also hard to compete with the locals when bidding. The supplies are getting depleted, as more and more 86's kick the bucket in japan.
2. If they find something decent, the purchase price will be very high. The resale to public price will then be even higher. No one in Australia is willing to pay 15k+ for an ae86. Everyone here seems to think that they are shit cheap car. It simply is not at all profitable for importers to keep in stock.
The only way you are going to get one is by request. Talk to ae86drift. He's importing one in.
So yeah, pretty expensive little cars. But they are a cult classic. Only problem is, you'll have to pay top dollar to own one.
rock on.
