If someone is gonna buy ur car for $15k, and they got finance for the purchase, what happens ??
Do I have to go chat up the finance company and get them to transfer the cash to me ?
And I assuming that I only give the car up after I get the $$$ in my account ? Or when does the transfer of the car take place ?
Also I want to keep my number plates. What are the steps for RTA ?
Do I just put mine in storage and get crappy plates for the car?
And what are the related costs for keeping your plates in storage...or putting it onto another car ?? i.e. all the transfer costs etc. I cant find anything on RTA site..
Finally... who wants to make an offer for these plates... for low cars..

Hey Les,
The buyer obtaining finance should pay you by a cheque...and preferably a bank cheque (personal cheques are too risky and could bounce if ur dealing with someone dodgy).
If they insist paying by personal cheque, then wait until it clears into ur bank account before u sign the transfer form and hand over the car.
As for your number plate, u can get a "crappy" standard plate for $20 and store ur number plate at the RTA or immediately put it on another car (you're not allowed to hold onto it by itself).
Hope all that info helps ya

And I forgot to mention that if u decide to store ur plate at the RTA, the storage fee is $20 a year. u get a discount if u decide to keep it more than 1 yr...ie 5 yr storage would cost less than $100.

What I mean is will the payment come direct from the finance company ? Or will the buyer still draw a b-cheque from their own account ?
thanks for info on plates.. BUT will it cost me anything to transfer my plates onto another car ? i.e. not storing it.

The buyer will draw the bank cheque from their account.
