What a mad idea, rather than pay for the standard computer or a new aftermarket one, just wire the quad throttle bodies open, bolt on a huge steel plenum with a volvo throttle body on the front of that, and then use a good ol' Delco computer!

Now that's good labna!

The cover has a bright yellow r32 gtr. I juts do not understand some people, like you said why would you get rid of your quad throttles. That is half the appeal of the 20v.
People these days i dont know!!!

But they didn't just get rid of them, they wired them open! Shocked
I think whoever did that should get the worldwide bodginess award.
Has anyone seen anything better than that?

I guess the last bodge conversion article they did would come pretty close, especially that wonderful cable to hydraulic clutch mechanism.
And the article about the guy who used an old honda civic radiator as an intercooler on his VL, and even used the radiator cap to limit boost with the caps 13psi valve. The good thing about that was, he could adjust the boost simply by swapping in a higher (or lower) pressure radiator cap!

I guess it would be a close call.

I liked the guy with the speed bump in his bonnet because the engine was backfiring and blowing the intercooler pipe off into the bonnet.
Similar thing happened at calder the other week, a guy in a sleeper shitty Falcon boosted the engine up to do a birnout and blew out the passenger headlight all over the road!

Joel,

thanks for that,I'll grab it for a look.

as for dodgy conversions, one that springs to mind was a datto 1600 that was in at an exhaust shop I use a while back, getting a basic system put under it.

it had received a 13BT conversion. leaving aside the fact that having a turbo 13b is illegal for that chassis,so the car was being dummied up minus the turbo to get through rego, and it would then be added once the car got through;the engine mounts were some of the scariest work I have seen in 11 years of work.

the crossmember had been gutted to clear the bottom of the engine, but not re-inforced afterward, and the mounts were so badly done(small square plates of steel mig welded together to make a small squarish shape) I was making bets that they would snap the first time the owner dropped the clutch.

I wish I had had a camera on the day.
