Quick shift kit? You mean a Short Shifter?! Well C's make a sort shifter for the R154 for about $600 brand new, or Dellows have a short skifter kit for the W58 which "MAY" work in a R154 as my R154 shifter worked in a W58 but I haven't tried the Dellows one.

does a short shifter just essentially shorten the movement between shifts?

when you say it ouut like that it kinda states the obvious i guess hahaha!

what i mean is does it JUST change the movement required to shift, or does it change any of the internals of the box?

how does it work? assuming it shortens the movement between gears, does this mean it is stiffer or harder to shift?

where can i get one for my soarer?

is the gear stick shorter? like a Honda S2000... damn they have a sweet shift!

A quickshifter or shortshifter or whatever you wanna call it, changes the pivot point of the gearstick, so only the gearstick & gearstick housing are changed, & it reduces the throw of the shift by reducing the leverage, therefore reducing the mechanical advantage & theoretically making it stiffer & harder to shift.
In practice, the extra effort required to change gear is virtually unnoticable in my opinion/experience (bar one exception), and the improved action of the shifter far outweighs any increased effort you may experience.
