lexus v8 in hilux Sun, 13 July 2003 10:46 Go to next message
hi to all
i recently picked up a neat 1992 hilux 2wd for my mobile wiring business

im contemplating fittin a lexus v8 to it so i have better fuel economy and power than the shitty 22r carby engine

i need to know on a factory v8 with traction control where r the speed sensors since i might try get the traction control workin
ill make the job very neat n hide most of the wiring too

i know one on each wheel at front but the sensor for the rear is it on the back of the auto gbox or has it got sensors on each of the rear wheels

i know a 1j has a sensor on back of auto just wondering if 1uz is similar

plus also need advice on what bigger brakes are easy to fit
im hopin hilux bigger discs and 4 spots will bolt straight on

and if anyone knows of any things that might help make the conversion easier i would be thankful

thanks

sideshow Very Happy

thanks
ive done many conversions in the past so ill be doin
everything myself

since im not too cluey on hiluxes im not sure what upgrades
i can do to brakes and other stuff which will be simple and just bolt on

im goin to measure the auto box and hopefully its same length as the auto box in my hilux
so ill bolt the auto in place and just make new engine mounts
and modify the sump

your gona need new diff ratios. we wired up this exact same engine and auto to a hilux and the customer was complaining about not having o/d. It was actually that it would shift into 2nd at about 5kph and was overreving in top.

if your hilux was auto thou you may find ratios may be ok???

Have you got the engine yet? make sure you do the starter up before you fit it - there in an inaccessable spot once there in(under the intake manifoldfrom memory)
