Where to get i/c hoses, 45 degree bends + some wierd ones? Sun, 13 July 2003 12:19 Go to next message
im in need of some 2" diameter hoses to support 14psi boost, preferably in the south west. ive looked up places like AVO, purple pig but they want outrageous prices like $90 for a bend and im really doing things on a budget. maybe some truck place could help me out but i doubt they would have such small intercooler hoses. any help greatly appreciated cause i just wanna get my car on the road FINALLY!!!

i tried GCG, their products looked great but were heaps pricy. do you have any more info on truck line? i looked up a few truck wreckers in the yellow pages so ill ring a couple this arvo but they are all pretty far away.

david n, do repco have parts catalogues for makay rubber? do you know if its high pressure hose? its worth a look for me cause theres a repco only 20 mins away instead of like 40 for truck spares.
thanks guys for the input.

thanks for that man, ill definately be giving him a call tomorrow. another guy i speak to at work got some hoses for me but i think he can only get 90's, and they are rather thin so i dont know if they can sustain the boost. ill try him first cause its only in moorebank, then ill give your guy a call.5 thanks mate. hell pissed Thu, 17 July 2003 08:42 Go to previous messageGo to next message
so i got some hoses from jap performance, just second hand ones off turbo cars for joining the turbo to the i/c and such, spent hours slaving over the car again hooking everything up and FINALLY a sigh of releive as its finished and what happens when i crank it over? the hoses suck in, and i dont mean a little bit i mean totally close up on either side of the i/c where the hose is the longest (approx 15cm length of just hose).
GODDAMN!!! am i gonna be forced to pay hundreds just for some purpose made silicon hoses from an exhaust shop or can i chuck a spring in like in some radiator hoses? help me please i wanna drive the shitbox!!!

Why not just do the job properly and make up some pipes, just use short lengths of the orange stuff from purple pig then to join the pipes and give them freedom of movement. Especially if you can do this yourself, it won't cost you too much really...

$25 each thats better than most places.

mrshin, i thought i was sorta doing it properly. i bought approx $240 worth of stainless steel mandrel bends from an exhaust shop at about $25 each, that was the cheapest i could find it. then i marked it all up and had it welded and pressure tested for $75, then got a few turbo hoses for $35. im starting to wish i had just paid an ehaust shop like $500+ to get it over and done with.
oh and you know how i had about 15cms of just hose, well i got some offcuts of the pipe and stuck it in the hoses, leaving about a 3cm gap and it still sucks in hard. ohwell more money on the way Smile

I would have just used mild steel pipe, and with the money saved, you could get it chromed Evil or Very Mad

As for making it up, all you really need is a welder (oxy or mig) - use your own, or get friendly with someone who has one!

yes i know if i were to do it again i would do it differently. i can weld mild steel cause i have an oxy but i wanted it proper so i got stainless and you need TIG for that.
so anyway i tried pirtek for some hoses they cant do it so ill prob try repco tomorrow hopefully they can do it for me. im gonna bite the bullet and go all out on proper hoses now, big step for a tight ass Smile

I can get stainless bends cheap, we just did the intercooler piping in my mates 4AGZE AE82 for under $200 (it has about 10-12 bends and uses about 1-2meters or straight)
