Ok Christmas and birthday is comming and I'm going to be needing a complete new set of gauges for my car.
Whats everyone using? I would like to keep things neat by using all the same brand and style if possible.
Would I be best looking into a Motec dash
Or maybe a Stack dash
What are peoples thoughts?
Thanks

I'll probably just stick with a set of gauges then. Recommend any brands?

For the oil pressure guage I want and electric type not mechanical type. This over comes the plastic tube issue.

electric oil pressure or water temp arnt a good idea if you like your motor and drive it hard. mechanical is the way to go and just use dash 4 braided hose as the autometer gauges use dash 4 fittings now. there are just to many things that can go wrong with electrical gauges.

As far as I'm concerned, electric gauges are more reliable than mechanical gauges. Most decent electric gauges these days have a test routine built in so you know they are working each time you start the car. 99% of any problems would be from installation problems.
Also to have full accuracy with a mechanical gauge you really need to prime the hose, because as we know air is really easy compressed.

I was a bit concerned about the thin plastic tube with my oil pressure guage, particularily where it's behind the dash, hard to get to, susceptible to heater control levers & such, and not somewhere oil should be, so I simply slipped a length of vacuum hose over the plastic tube. Fits perfectly, & would protect it no worries from damage.

cool1, god im glad you told me that ill have to go and rip out the mechanical gauges we use on the $80,000{cost us to build, about $110k for customers}and put in the more accurate electrical gauges even though we use motec dash we still run mechanical gauges to check as they are more relaible. our motec has nearlly ever sensor that avalible i.e disc temp and speed, suspenssion travel, g-force etc etc setup is over 22k but we still rely on mech for the accuracy and reliability! horses for course but if you want to know what is best ask the peoples that use them.

sarcasm is the lowest form of wit
and Cool1 just get what you think looks the chop
low end (read > affordable) gauges are pretty much similar
ill be getting omori gauges for the ae86
coz they have a good rep and look nice (similar to the old school smiths look)
