Is it possible to fit a 5M-E into a RA40 and if so how difficult would it be to wire up the EFI.
Also has anybody got a wiring diagram for a 5M-E.

Yes, you can.
No, you shouldn't.
Buy an MA45/6/7.

I'll be getting the engine out of a MA61 supra. The reason i'm doing this is that i bought the supra for $200 with no rego. But the supras got too much rust to pass the pits. But it's got an excellent W58 gearbox and a good running 5M-E. it seems a waste to sell it back on. i have a RA40 outback that isn't running because the 18rg needs a rebuild.

Making the 5M-E fit and work properly will cost more than rebuilding the 18R-G, and probably won't perform any better. As Nark suggested, it will completely root your car's handling. I can't think of a good reason to attempt such a conversion, but if you really really want to do it there's no reason it couldn't be done.
