Fuel Level Sender - AE86

Does anyone know EXACTLY how to fix this problem?
When I fill the car up to the max. The needle still is on empty and stays dead. It used to only go up to halfway when the tank was full, but now it just stays down.
How do I check everything to make this operate back to normal?

its probably the sender (rather than something to do with the gauge), so just buy another one. i know parts for sprinters arent easy to find but its to fiddly to bother fixing.

Pull up the carpet you should see it- right hand side of the spare wheel, undo those bolts and lift it out.

Even easier, get your 'spare' one, plug it into the plug that goes to the tank, move the arm up and down, and watch the fuel gauge move/not move. Remember to have the ignition turned 'on', and that the gauge is heavily damped and takes about 30 seconds to move when you move the float.

I actually pulled mine out, cleaned it up and bent the arm so that it remained in contact with the guide. Has missed a beat since and didn't cost a cent.
