Any of you ppl know how much and 18R-GEU would cost? or alternatively how much just the efi gear including everything but the head and block would be(I already have 3 efi heads for 18rg just none of the other gear)?
not surge tank etc, just the specific engine bits

I got my engine and gearbox from a guy in newcastle. It's an 18-RGEU model with twin 45mm Webbers siderafts. The engine was already done up with lightened fly wheel, high compression pistons, 65/20 cams, short-throw shifter, heavy duty clutch, 2 1/4" extractors etc. the lot was for $1500 (good deal) plus $200 freight to nth qld.
at the moment the engine is in my st141 corona (after 3 months of conversions) modified ra40 cross member to suit the power steering and brackets for aircon and power steering motors.
heres a pic of the engine at the time of arrival

I'm running 12.0:1 compression!

My 18RGU is running an enormous amount of pressure! What do u guys reckon my horsepower would be? I've got: balanced and reground crankshaft, balanced and lightened flywheel, major porting, shaved head(thats why comp. is so high), competition cams, 2.75inch straight through exhaust with only one muffler-supertrap, custom mandrel-bent extractors, custom airbox with pod-filter on twin solexs, and a holley red fuel pump.
I tried to get it dyno tuned, but the guy wouldn't do it cause it was running on-a problem when running so much compression.
I'm guessing about 150hp or above. The fastest I've got on the strip is 16.83@89mph with traction loss through till third(baldish tyres-no money). With new tyres i'd think i'd get into the high 15s easily.
PS- is there any quick fix to stop my car running on? I've tried remapping the distributor and lowering the revs, etc... and they don't work when the motor is hot. Any suggestions apart from dropping the compression?

if you were running 12 to 1 it would ping its tits off and would not have much advance and would need to run AVGAS to drive it around town .if it is running on there should be a solenoid valve that runs from the airbox and 2 the rocker cover and attaches to the balance tube ,it shouild be put back there .if you have not got 1 ,lower the heat range of your spark plugs ,by memory your eng should have w-16 exu plugs try w-20 or 22 that should stop it running on glenn

It was compression tested at 200psi! It is running that much i've had two tests and both say the same! It doesn't ping much at all- only on occassions when its hot and i try planting the pedal in forth at about 2000rpm. Apart from that its going great. No i dont have that link either. And i have changed my spark plugs to B6ES spark plugs on recommendations from a mechanic and a drag/race mechanic. I'm using the B6ES not the BP6ES. These plugs have pretty much stopped the pinging.

Here's a tip: don't believe anything you read in Hot4's, unless it pertains to gay bodykits or skanky models draped over bonnets. When it comes to technical knowledge, they're full of shite!
