turbo my 3T-C Tue, 15 July 2003 09:15 Go to next message
hi guys,
have the opportunity to get a turbo or three for a superb, superb, marvellous price. catch is their from helicopters with huge displacement motor's 5-8L 'i think', their trimmed for 4000rpm engine speed, so i'll definatly need to get a radical retrim, but will a 1.8L 3T put out enough air volume to spool her up, or will i need more displacement / swept volume? would be using a copper spacer to drop the compression,

what yall think? worth looking into, more?

Alex

i think their like T88 size but i'm hoping their smaller Shocked

what kind of cost will i be up for to do it. may get one just to see how 'big' they really are, then decide if it's worth doing

like what is a 3T engine good for with stock internals? i heard someone once saying that the port-eu-ricans (spelling please) have very reliable 550hp turboed 3T-C's, what's on the inside though?

depemding on size u would probably be better off selling it so some guys with rotas, they push out more exhaust gasses, so it would suit them well...

just a thought

yep rotor's put out some good exhaust volume, hmm that's an idea i'll put a rotor in her ahahahaha Very Happy in my dreams or on lotto day.

hmm anyone interested in these rather "LARGE" turbines, may just well get one and measure her up see if it can be applied to 'any' automotive application,

Cheers,

Alex

Those turbos are probably ginormous, and a 3T wouldn't have a hope of spooling one up. Remember lag isn't an issue with helicopters since they run at constant rpm, so the turbos wouldn't be designed with responsiveness in mind.
