does anyone have an alternative to quicktime to play .mov files? all of the ones ive tried dont have new codecs or the ability to install new codecs and quicktime itself sh!ts me to tears.

I've never had any troubles.
apart from the fact that most things people encode into .mov are shithouse quality

Try updating to the latest version, usualy solves the problem

If you're on Linux, xine and mplayer both play Quicktimes.
On Windoze, go to http://www.kazaalite.tk/ and click on the Codec Pack link. There's a Quicktime codec in there. Haven't tried it though so tell me how it goes (if you try it).
