I own both a 1980 escort and a 74 celica so i luv both cars, i was driving my escort on my L's and i pulled up to this old beaten down celica looked like 71 or 72. Anywayz i wasnt meaning to try anything, i started reving the engine cuz the carby was playing up abit. So the guy in the sleeks starts reving up as well, dad told me to just ignore him. But i couldnt refuse, i looked like i wasnt gonna do anything, but i saw the green light was about to go, got ready at the pedals, lights go green and i just dump it like a 10 cent hooker, got the wheel smokin, probably got close to blowing a diff But I got a nice jump on the celica. I cant change gears well, so it was like a dodgy quick change to second then another dodgy change to third, and i was pulling away from him nicely, then dad started yelling and swearing at me, so i had to stop. But i defintaly had him

my parents both used to drag race professionally, so they'd egg me on, my dad had a 9 sec charger, my mum had a 13 sec charger

My mum eggs me on all the time.
The last time was when I picked her up at the airport in her car, (92 GX manual liberty), she encouraged me to "blow the bitch away", so I gave the poor little thing all it had, my mum was a bit worried when I hit the rev limiter, (I've never hit the limiter in her car before, nor had she, so she didn't know what it was until I told her), but I still don't know what I dragged, it was some type of BMW sedan or something that really had some balls that I pretty much kept even with, but I would have smoked more easily in my car due to me not having driven a manual in a long time, and the fact I know how to get more out of my auto box.

HA - mums tend to do this
Once in a carpark in my old red ta22 - this happened
walking back to the car with mum - we get in and are about to trundle back home after shopping
it was a hot day so windows down - and well - the ta22 had a real burble to it seeing the exhaust system was basically mufflerless
2 old ladies standing near my car started complaining and i heard one say " bloody young hoon " this is at maybe 3km an hour creeping out of the carpark !
Mum looks at me and sees me frowing and whispers on the quiet
" drop a burnout " Im like WTF!?! and she grins at me - and says " go on - show em " so im all grins now - revved up the old redpig and dropped the clutch - bagging the thing up and leaving the women in a cloud of white smoke from the tyres coffing and carking ..
Mum was pissing herself laughing in the passenger seat!
That was a Good day!!
Shes not too mad on the Gt4 though - she doesnt like that " boost controller thing " when its wound up

Nice one Stu...
My mum has a habit of getting her Commodore sidewayz ...
That was mad that night when she went off at the construction workers, took it sideways 'round the corner and sprayed them all with the gravel that was on the road ... dad had a blank look on his face and I was sitting in the back with a grin from ear to ear ...

my mum wants a turn at driving my car. How many 50yo women do you know who want to drive an old manual car with 185rwkw?
I wonder where I got my lead foot from

I can't have any fun when I am taking my parents around in my car.
My mum hates the way I drive, she fears for both her saftey and mine - she just over reacts
And my dad thinks I should stop driving my car so hard - in light of recent events he may be right though.

mum took it for a drive today
she loves 1 bar of boost, loved flooring it all the way to 120km/hr (in a 50 zone!), and loved the looks she gfots as we roared through quiet neighbourhoods on a sunday afternoon in second gear at 60km/hr

this threads been kinda hijacked but my dad used to b a driving instructor so not even my mates will get in the car while he is in it and im driving coz he is sooooooooo critical of my driving.......and he has crashed it more times then me . btw thats only once. if only he knew how i get my revenge when he isnt in the car........but all in all he can be kool
get him out on the paddock when we used to live on the farm and just a dirt road when he is bored and i can see why he has such a reputation around the tiny town i used to live in for being a crazy bastard. apparently that was an 'extra' part of his driving lessons.......car control and recovery as he would call it
lol
he is a toyota man thru and thru and his fav car is the original 76 cruiser we had a 79 (76 model) for about 15 years.......that definately do not make them like they used to...
most of the stuff i do in his car he taught me how to do so its his own fault anyway
btw country bumpkins do it better hehe

I dont get parents one bit.My old man used to race Minis and IS still a MAJOR rev head .Everytime he gets into a Manual car( as he now drives a CSI Camry Automatic man does that thing go ............NOT) he just Absolutely THRASHES the thing. My OLD AE82 ( may it rest in Peace and well Santa must hate my guts as I crashed it on Chrissie eve last year). used to geta beating when he drove it.Even my other AE 82 the blue thing for sale right now man we took it to Oran Park a while ago and u should have seen my old man hammer this thing down the MAIN straight. I got to give my Old man cred cause he CAN seriously drive a motor car.My mum on the other hand well lets just say i am FULL DEAF from her screaming at me while in the car.
Hey just who here knows of someone with a MK1 Escort as I am actually going to be Rebuilding one . Has the Original Lotus Engine in it, and in there day they hammered just want some advice on that make of escort thats all .But all i got to say is AE 82 Rollas are the BEST, most fun car i will EVER own.

As for me, my dad's a revhead, as is my uncle Francis, and I'm a bit of one, but my mum panics.
Apparently, giving an Alfa 33 5,000RPM is "too much".
God.

yeh my dad used to race mini's in his dad. but now he's too busy with work to have anything to do with cars, which sucks balls coz i want him to help me built a project car, or get me into racing, but he's too much of a boring old man now. although, when we have the XR6, he used to give that a fair bit. hehe

Damn, i started this thread a long time ago, ive had my p's for over a year now, lol. Its not that my dad doesnt like fast cars, occasionally when we use to own a 81' volvo station wagon he would get that thing sideways. But yeah he still yells at me if he is in the car and im speeding, over doing something stupid. Oh well somethings never change
