HAAHAH!
these are my fav quotes:
"It comes with Pedders sports suspension along with the body kit and a non-functional bonnet scoop."
"The sporty Rio runs the regular 71kW 1.5-litre engine and takes 15 seconds to go from 0-100km/h."
unfortunately today this is so true:
"Kia is confident the Sport-Pac will be popular with young people who want a car that looks"

they had a definition of rice
"Kia is confident the Sport-Pac will be popular with young people who want a car that looks fast but who can't afford to buy or maintain a car such as a WRX or a Lancer EVO."
i wonder how many people would really buy this car, its too early to tell but may be that bonnet scoop would come to use if they chucked in a 4agze or something

LOL!
'Kia spokesman Edward Rowe says: "It's just a coincidence." '
'The sporty Rio runs the regular 71kW 1.5-litre engine and takes 15 seconds to go from 0-100km/h.'
just two of my favourites....

wonder how long it takes for every ricer who cant afford a lancer with 25" rims and $6000 worth of body work to buy these.
I'm going to make a point of letting them see me laugh at them

The Sport-Pac adds $3000 to the price of a regular Rio ($14,990 drive away).
It comes with Pedders sports suspension along with the body kit and a non-functional bonnet scoop.
OK ! so 17990 for factory rice
lets compare
mk 3 supra or 1990 ish gt4
avg price - $11 - 12 grand
stock power for Kia Rico - 71kw
stock power for a gt4 - about 160 KW
so far ive saved 6 grand
spend extra 6 grand on:
* suspension ( 1800 dollars for a whiteline kit )
* Exhaust ( 1600 for what im loking to do on my gt4 including dump pipe + fitting )
*$2000 for a nice set of wheels and tyres to compliment suspension
estimated output with modifications at the engine for gt4- Hmm 175 ish ?
money saved $600 to put toward insurance coverage or stereo head unit upgrade , or a boost controller
I have a car that doubles the output of example rice , handles 200% better - looks ALOT more sporty , has the bling bling rims And is an actual performance car !
Why OH why do people buy rice-cars ??? Im guessing the non functional air scoop would be there to direct more AIR into their obviously Empty head cavity

the reason ppl buy these cars is cause the new car warranty, that means more to some ppl than actual looks or performance

i can understand the new car warranty phil - your probably in a similar state of Why ? i guess ..
A friend did the same he went out and paid 17K for a new excel ( for the warranty ) 3 years ago - now the car is falling apart on him ..
its a shame people cant see lasting build quality, over a warranty they will probably never have to use until it just comes out of it

New car warrenty - Good thing i suppose
Watching your car loose 33% in a year? - Bad thing
Friend of mines lecturer bought herself a new Hyundai Accent or somthing for $20000 or so
Anyways she got a job offer in Japan, took it, tried selling the ca 3 weeks after she got it brand new...she got $15000 for it!
Way to lose $5000, but of course a new car warrenty is worth MORE than a measly $5000 depreciation.
In all seriousness though, i'd say that insurance(maybe rego?) and maintenence(because who really wants to spend money looking after a Kia? ) would be why some people opt for shit and pay more to begin with and get a whole lot less
Anywho, seems to be that for my ma61 to be sporty i need to buy and install a non functional air scoop!

there was an 88 celica GT4 going that had the newer gt4 engine in it for around 19k. That thing looked awesome. For the 17k for that Rio I'd rather get an older model celica and put a 1g or 1UZ into it. Could have an awesome car that would leave most things for dead.
0-100 in 15 secs....

Subaru spokesman David Rowley says: "We are confident that people will be able to distinguish between this car and the WRX. For a start, there is a slight difference in the acceleration figures.
Slight difference?????!!!!!!!
