I recall this thread awhile ago.. Dunno if I remember anyone saying it'd fit..

You need either a custom exhaust manifold or an adapter plate made up.

Probably need new dump pipe also.. Oil drain etc.

Mmmmm. Always remember that anything that is a straight fit - NEVER is. Turbo shops told me that the CT26 would bolt to my manifold too - Wrong (as you have unfortunately found out) best to have a custom manifold made for the job - or make one yourself (I know someone who can do these).

In the applications that I have seen there would be insufficient room to run a CT26 straight under the standard manifold with an adaptor in place.
The performance is worthwhile BUT there are many variables affecting how it goes in and how well it all runs.
Some things that you will need to address are-

Oil feed to turbo.

Oil drain from turbo.

Water feed to turbo.

The "clocking" of the housings (basically their orientation to each other). If you decide to change them for better piping angles you will need to modify the wastegate actuator and drill the housings to change the locating pins (you will also need to be sure that the drain hole faces in the desired direction - down).

Piping - both intake (to the turbo and intercooler) + exhaust dump all need to be revised and modified to suit.

Injectors - running the stock injectors out of juice is dead easy with the CT20 the CT26 is infinitely easier. I will go as far to say that if you don't upgrade the injectors don't bother with the CT26.

Pistons - if you are running the stockers you won't be running them for too long after getting the CT26 going.

Both TurboRA28 and I have done this conversion in VERY different ways (mine is better of course Laughing) and I can tell you that it is not that difficult to get done. Like all worthwhile car mods it costs a fair whack of the folding stuff.

Have fun - at about 20PSI it will put a smile on your dial that looks something like this Very Happy

I hate to do manifolds without the car in front of me there is just too many things to run into. A simple manifold system can probably be bought for as little as $400 or $500. But most people doing this need the car to gat it dead right.

If you have the CT26 of a 7M-GTE it will bolt up to your manifold with slight slotting of the holes in the turbo (only a few mm). If it is the twin entry off the 3S-GTE it is a totally different ball game.
I can't remember the specific webpage this info came from, but it did have pics and comparisons of the two turbos. The manifold was also ported out a bit to match the new turbo better.

From the picture, it looks like a single entry CT26 (7MGTE type) ??

If so, it can be made to fit the 3TGTE exhaust manifold, You need to elongate the mounting holes in the exhaust housing about 5mm outwards, and die grind the outlet from the manifold to match the exhaust inlet of the turbo. Then as Jason said, you're up for a dump pipe, water & oil etc. Leaving the housings as they are will have the outlet pointing the same direction as the original CT20, so you can make your intercooler plumbing from there quite easily.

I can send you pics if you want, I really wish there was a tech section on this website that was updated at least once a year so useful articles with pictures could be added for common topics like this one.

Cheers
Phil

[EDIT] looks like Purple_Beastie replied same time as me. sorry for the duplicate info.

are you listening?

You dont need an adaptor plate if you are fitting a single entry CT26 Rolling Eyes Smile Just elongate the holes in the exhaust housing, and port the manifold to match the turbo entry.

Just take a look at the two items, i'm sure you'll figure out that its quite simple to make the turbo fit the manifold, its the other items like water/oil/dumppipe that will require fabrication.
