argh, what to do! just called an engineer, i wont get passed, and if i want to, its gonna cost like almost 3000!!! Apparently i cant use an aftermarket computer with that motor in a 1987+ vehicle, well technically i can but its gonna cost me a fourch! Mad

then i call SSS in Syd looking for a loom/ecu, he reckons i wont find one, especially with an igniter Rolling Eyes he can sell me a package for the rolla, motor/box(non-lsd)/loom/ecu/radiator/
drive shafts and a few other little bits and pieces for 2500 with delivery to Vic.

what do i do!? buy this ae101 with lsd box minus loom/ecu or half that price, or get it from SSS or just buy a f**king half cut!? ARGHHHHHHH

GZE ppl in melb, help me please! Sad

Well personally i got the ae92 halfcut

If you need help with a loom (im sure u can find one) sing out...

Also u only need one loom (the one to the ecu) u dont need the other loom

Any qs just ask... i havent finished mine, but sounds like im a bit further...

If you watta catchup we can arrange that, maybe something might inspire some ideas for you
Good luck mate

Xpimp:

I was going to get a half cut, but thought an ae101 would be better, as its a little newer and came with the lsd box.
Any idea if the ae101 box's fit ae92's?

Is it really worth all the trouble just to get a s/c corolla, i might as well buy something else if its gonna be so hard to legalize it.

I'll see what happens though i spose, i love my little rolla and want her to be blown Razz
Did ur half cut just come with an open end g/box? or lsd?
thanks

Mrshin:
I called that guy you told me too, wasn't that much help really, said it would be hard to get done and if i do go though gotta get some big tests of some sort done over there in altona, so yeah i dunno, thanks for your help anyway mate

y not try sell yr gze to someone thats blown theres up

then buy a full engine and harness

buying a frontcut doesnt help u any more than just the engine and loom

is yr ae82 carby i know carby models have diff mounts
u will need efi tank and pump if its carby too

i have wired up 8 gzes in past 2 months and theyre all the same whether theyre front cuts or engine/loom/ecu

people goto the hassle of changing whole front wiring loom in the engine bay when it is not needed

with the lsd boxes u will need to make a new rear mount on the back of the gbox

Mate is that cause of the ecu? cause i talked to some ppl before i did mine (not engineers but ppl who have had ae82s done) and they said it wasnt too hard

So im hoping mine will be ok cause its standard ecu etc Smile

sideshow : it is a factory 4age, so yeah, no need to worry about all that stuff.
I didn't end up buying that motor, cos it didn't come with loom/ecu so i had to pass it up, and it just woulda been more hassle trying to off load it, but anyways
Do do you of the package that SSS was talking about? would that be better value then a half cut? Even though i could get a half cut for 2400 delivered to vic, they wanted 2400 for just the basics to get it all in and going?
Iv heard a few bad things about SSS so yeah i dunno what to do.

Xpimp : nah its not JUST cos of the ecu, it was something about emissions, i think LadySX (from melb) went through all this trouble and it costed her a $$$$ lot.
You really should start to call some engineer's as its better to hear what to do from the goose's mouth it self ( Rolling Eyes ?!)

Does anyone know who imports aw11's here in vic, or newhere in oz actually? as the engineer told me to try and get a hold of one and get a ADR spec sheet i spose it is, AS they would of had to get the gze to complie with Australian Emissions

the reason why they tell you to run it on gas is coz the car is post 76 - gas don't have to comply with much emissions stuff - easy passing material

altona epa testing station hasn't run for years. so no chance there and fucking expensive anyway....i got told years ago i'd have to ship it to perth and pay $15k for an emissions test? WTF?

if its a 4age then just chuck the respective computer from the locally adr'd car in yours and run it that way, make sure u have a unleaded neck and cat convertor and you'll pass with flying colors (emission wise)

remember aw11 gze's are coming in under the 15yr rule now - so not sure what needs to happen with respect emissions...

speak with ladysx she went thru this with her gze ae92 rolla...i havent' seen here on here for yonks but she's in melb

geoff other thing you could do is go visit rod hadfield seeing as you're up that way. if anyone would know or know who to speak to he'd be the man. rod = legend.

Xpimp : is there anyone here in victoria that has? apart from 'LadySX' which is never on toymods forums anyway?!

Grega : its a 4agze! already got the 4age in it, and thats why it wont pass emissions 'with flying colours' easy Sad

Yeh i would go visit rod, but he hates young ppl, wouldnt know what their on about or what they want from a car these days, he said this when he was on the local news not long ago, might be a legand to some ppl, but not too all, sorry. but i'll give them a call and see what they can tell me.
